I did this once, not on a Ford and this is what I had to do to get it right. Get down to your local friendly dealer or an auto electric shop, put on a sad face and tell them your story and they will probably provide you with the wiring diagrams for the 2 cars. You need both. If that won't work go to faxonautoliterature . They have a wiring diagram book for the 92 for $19 and a Ford service manual for the 97 for $69. That will give you both wiring diagrams. It is an excellent company to do business with by the way.
With the diagrams in hand start tracing wires one at a time. You will find that a lot of the wires for the same things will be different colors, on orange wire in 92 will be green in 97. I don't know why they do that but they do. This should be able to get your car functional but you may be short a few options. I never did get my cruise control sorted out. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I took a 01 ford f 150 triton engine and put it in a 97 ford crown victoria and switched all the components over but it's not running right it stall on acceleration then pick up speed I did not switch the...

Yes. You need the ecu that came with that engine. Did you switch intakes? The f 150 4.6 has a taller intake and I believe the stroke is different. I would switch the throttle position sensor too.

Im thinking my fuel pump but not sure it only turns over when i prime it once the prime is gone it dies and i dont hear the pump when i climb under tank its a 1999 crown vic w/ intercepter 4.6l also a...

first check the fuse and relay for fuel pump. heres how to check the pump. get under car and put hand on bottom of fuel tank, then have a person turn key to on . if pump is ok. you will feel a vibration in tank. you may have to do this a few times because a fuel pump only runs a few seconds to get fuel pressure to engine then shuts off. but when vehicle is running its on all the time to supply fuel to engine.

I put a 1997 4.6 police intercepter engine in a 92 crown vic but i am having problems with wiring. what should I do or what can I do

you need to describe the problems.

The engine computer may not be compatible with this engine. It may require the PCM from a police intercepter vehicle. Do you have the calibration code from the vehicle the engine came out of?

Most of the sensors and actuators are the same for police and regualr car for the same model year. You probably need a wirng diagram book for a 1992 and a 1997 so you can compare.

I may have one or both. If yes, I would sell fro $7 each plus $2 shipping each. Let me know and I will look.
