check all fluids, p/s,& trans ....this sound sometimes is ***. with the trans (worse case ) or is ***. with the wheel bearings but normally is a rough grinding whining sound
its a cylinder misfire and trans circuit problem--sensors cud be worn or hav connection issue--has plug wires been changed-also coil me be faulty--has trans been serviced with new fluid and filter-shifting soleniods cud be sluggish from dirt
check to make sure the transmission has not come loose. it sounds bad, but i had a simaler problem with a eagle talon. the trans bolts came loose and the trans seperated from the block
I'm seeing a lot of 1994 Mazda Protege problems so if you do replace it I would recommend a new trans and not a rebuilt or junk yard trans. Most car repair shops use Jasper Transmissions most likely because they build them better than the original!
