Recharging flat elantra battery. - Hyundai Motor 2003 Elantra

  • Anonymous Nov 02, 2009

car has been stood for a few weeks. have jump started once in that time and mechanic friend tested battery and alternator. Both were charging okay. That was few weeks ago and it is now flat (hasnt been used since.) Will it keep charging itself the more I use it? Do I need to drive it for a long time and regular for it to recharge fully?

If it is not a hybrid, the battery sould be charged on a slow charger at 2amps for about 12 to 18 hours, this will give it a deep cycle charge that will last.

No it will not charge itself to full deep charge,it needs the slow charge, the longer the better,12 hours or more would do it.Todays cars require a lot of voltage to run, therefore not allowing the battery to receive it~s full needed charge,I hope this helps you on the information you requested, and thank you.

Recharge the battery fully with the charger, then have it tested again.

HUNDAI 2000 elantra will not start. it has no power at all . acts like a fuse is blown

it could be a fuse,, check in the fuse box under the hood for one that says Start or ignition, if you have zero power to the car, No lights, radio, nothin, check the battery posts , clean them and tighten them up, if they were to bad then the alternator couldn't recharge you battery , try jump starting it but let the powered vehicle run for a while with the cables attached to your car to assist in charging your battery ,, then try and start the vehicle

My battery in my car went dead and when i recharged it the radio code came up on the radio. where do i get code from.

There should be instructions in your owners manual for obtaining the code to unlock your radio. If not, then you will have to call a dealership.

Car won't start. Replaced battery. worked 3 days. They said it was the alternator. REplaced with new. worked another 4 days. had it check with advance auto said battery good, starter cranking normal....

if there is no charging then its back to the alternator or the way its hooked up? did you recharge your flat battery with a mains charger after it went flat the first time? as no alternator will charge a battery from flat to fully charged,,,,even if you drove around the world none stop! the new alternator may have given up working becouse you overloaded the voltage regulator trying to recharge a flat battery witch would mean it was very week to start with?

Will replacing the alternator belt on 2000 hyundai recharge the battery that has almost gone dead in 24 hrs of non use? Is this belt replacement expensive and or covered under hpp 4b?

not its not coverd under hpp, but if the belt is slipping it wont charge very well, also an alternator was never intended to recharge a flat battery only to keep it toped up,,, if its tottle flat it would be best to recharge it with a mains charger first as the alternator will never fully charge it from flat,, unless you drive around the world first??? it would take years to do it,,,if ever,,,charge the battery first with a mains charger
