Chevy 1998 s10 4 cylinder i want to know what all has to be done if i want to put a 6 cylinder in along with the computer and wire harnis of another truck & would the year of the truck matter?
You should find a doner truck. Lots of stuff will need to be changed over. Along with all of the stuff you have mentioned, transmission, drive line, fuel lines, fuel pump, radiator, fan, shroud, hoses, I think the heater box, you will need to look at another one, entire exhaust system. The list goes on,
Just so you know, before you go and buy just an engine and a wiring harness with pcm!
And you are looking for the like years. I think 96-2004. there are minor changes in the engines through the year ranges but if you are going to switch it all over then it will not be that big of a deal.
