Sounds like you were trying to add the wrong fuel. You were trying to put diesel fuel (large nozzle) into your gasoline car (small hole).
Second, the nozzle on the end of a diesel fuel pump is slightly larger than a standard fuel nozzle. That means it won't fit in your car's gas hole, at least not that way you're used to a pump nozzle fitting. Jun 9, 2010
amazing no car stated nor year.? nor gas or diesel car. or flex or?
at all pumps" and fueling stations
does it have the rubber nozzle boot, like calif has?
if the station is not messed up, as some are.
then its your car, easy to tell, go to one more station,
if its your car, the vent on the fillter ;pipe is clogged
or on newer cars there is an electric air solenoid valve here
that opens at key off, and will no vent.
there , covers all cars. made one post all years.
vents clogged in fuel system.?
or the gas station island pump is bad.
try another station ? yet?. if not why not.?
some stations have those silly bellows, nozzles, (calif style)
and if there nozzle is bad, bingo, if there fume recover system is boinked then bingo 2.
so try one more station...
all modern cars, 80s to now. (EPA evap cars) USA.
I know you probably won't like my answer, but seeing as I am a service tech for gas stations, the nozzle has a safety feature which shuts/kicks off when gas splashes back into the nozzle, thus keeping the gas from running over when the car is unattended and nozzle is locked. You can try pulling the nozzle back til it is barely in the tank or try a different gas station as some nozzles are different. As it is the shape of the fill tube on your vehicle. Hope this helped Tim
The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank.
Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!
I have a Kia Sedona 2005 and I can't fill it up with gas without the pump kicking off and I have tried several gas stations. Sometimes I can get a few gallons in with no problem but then it kicks off again and I have to spend twenty minutes dripping fuel into it until I loose patience. Help me!
you have a vapor vent issue. The fuel filler pipe has a vent inside of it to let out air as you pump gas in. If no air comes out, it will kick of the nozzle
The other possbility is that it is a poor design and others are having issues too. Cal your dealer service manager, not a service writer and ask him if there is an issue. Write or email Chrysler and ask them too. If the fuel filler pipe has a sharp bend and goes up hill at all, that will back up the fuel fill. Try putting the nozzle in upside down & see what happens. Also, try inserting the nozzle just a couple of inches. Report back please.
The fule tank vent tube is blocked/clogged. It's the little hole next to the filler hose that invites spiders that clog it up. Blow out the tube and it fixes the problem.
