Resetting the code for the radio

How do I reset the code to get the radio working after a battery replacement

  • preimers Nov 02, 2009

I have the code, how do I input it?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Pull the radio to get the serial number from the sticker on the top of the case. Post the serial number here and I can provide the unlock code for you

Hi, to input the code, the radio will need to display CODE. If it displays "OFF" you will need to leave the key in the accessory position for one hour to reset the radio to displaying "CODE" again.

Once CODE is displayed, push the preset button 1 to set the first digit, preset button 2 to set the second digit, and so on.

Once the code is displayed correctly, push the unlock button for your radio. This varies by radio but is always either CD, AM/FM, or TAPE. There is no penalty for pushing the wrong unlock button as long as the code displayed is correct. When you push the unlock button for your radio, it will turn the radio on, and to AM. You have full operation of the radio after this.

If you have a problem or think your code may not be right, provide the serial number from the top of the radio and I can verify your unlock code.

Regarding ali, please do not post answers to questions you admittedly have no idea about. It gives the site a bad rep.

Radio will not come on batterie new what could be the problem

If the radio stopped working when you replaced the battery, there is probably a security code that must be entered into the radio to reset. This is done by the manufacturers to discourage theft of factory radios. If the lose power the lock and must be reset. Check the owners manual packet for an unlock code. If not there, contact a dealer for more help.

My battery went dead on my ford fusion 2008 now my radio doesn't work

As with many newr cars, Your radio probably had a security code which is required to reset it after the radio is removed or power was disconnected from it. You probably have the code written somewhere in your new car paperwork. If not, contact your dealer. They can probably guide you through resetting the code.

Replaced battery. Need code to reset radio. '99

You can usually find the code on the bottom side of the ash tray, if your car has one. Or you can may have to pull the radio. It should be stamped on it somewhere.

My battery died I replace the battery and now radio do not except a code.

If the radio will not except the codes because radio codes was attempted to many times, you can reset the radio by disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds and the radio will reset it self for you to re-enter the radio code. Good luck and keep me posted.

Is there anything i should be wary of when removing my battery, will it mess any of the electrical settings up?bmw z4 3ltre thanks

Just make sure your radio is turned off before removing the battery. If the radio is on and the battery is removed and replaced, the radio may get locked out. This will prompt you to enter and reset code to your radio to have it work again. Good luck and after you battery has been replaced, just reset the radio stations setting and time.

Code for radio, changed battery and now no power

Check the manuel, the code may have been written in there and give you the instructions to resetting the radio, and check for a sticker in the glove box for the radio code. If you have a good relationship with the dealer they may even help you reset your radio without a fee or minimal amount.
Good luck and if that does not help you and they want a crazy amount to reset the radio try www.radio-code.com. Keep me posted

If you're talking about the Anti-Theft Security code for your radio, I'm fairly sure that only a BMW Dealership would be able to retrieve and reset the radio.

You could also try disconnecting the battery terminals for 10-20 minutes, and see if it resets.
