Car door will not open. vw 1.8 1999 passat

Rear passenger car door will not open. vw 1.8 1999 passat . All other doors and electronic locking system appear to be functionong normally.

Remove door panel and check actuator for power and that actuator rod is connected and the plastic clip did not break or pop off

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

there is a plastic clip that hold a rod in place that is attached to the lock might be damage look behind door panel at the lock itself.

sounds like the rear door sensor is kaput.all doors need to be shut before alarm will stabilise/you can leave the car open as if you dont have the key(with the correct code)the car is dead/immobilised.not even hot wiring will start car....

Right rear door wont open

If this car has child safety locks on the rear doors, open the door from the OUTSIDE locate the switch on the door frame and place it in the DOWN position. That should take care of it.
