You probably inserted the pump wrong. The timing mark on the balancer must be at TDC. Then when you put the pump in, the rotoe should point in the direction of #1 cylinder. If you know that you had these things in order, you probably need to turn the crank one turn. If you set it up with an open valve instead of both valves closed, you are exactly 180° off. Tou can turn the distributor 180° and see if that helps but, it will mess with anyone else that would ever work on it.

Why won't my 2004 nissan frontier start?

At the beginning you say lots of fire but then no fire and you replaced rotor and cap no fire?
Check the wiring to the dist. and inside for anything loose that could make contact and then loose it. No I do not think its your key system.
Also fix the knock sensor, it has to do with the fuel system.
Hope this is helpful Mike

My 2000 Nissan frontier runs great for about 15 minutes then starts sputtering tach starts jumping. Changed distributor cap & rotor button plug wires fuel filter & crank shaft position sensor. What...

I would want to monitor fuel pressure as the engine warms up. But it could also be a coil or ignition module problem, even a relay.
Any chance the check engine light is on ?

My 2000 Nissan Frontier has sputtering problems and the tac goes crazy. changed the fuel pump, sending unit, spark plugs, cap & rotor. what could be wrong?

your tach is run by the engine computer, possible cause. also by the crankshaft position sensor, most likely cause, I would start there. some sensors will run within perimeters and be bad enough to cause a lot of problems

I changed the oil pump the destributer cap, rotor, plugs and wires and now it wont start

Test all the cables, never dismiss the fact that a new part could be faulty. Make sure you put the HT leads back in the right order... Make sure the oil pump is primed, some engines refuse to start if there is no oil pressure... find a way to fill the oil pump manually otherwise it may take ages to get oil pressure.
