Your problem is in the Evap. Emission System. I have seen hundreds of P0446 codes on Camry like yours. 90% of the time it is caused by a bad tank by-pass valve (VSV) on the charcoal canister. You can check the valve by removing it and applying power to one pin and ground to the other. The valve should click... you'll hear it and feel it. Sometimes the valve sticks intermittently, and you may not experience it when testing it.
The P0446 can also be caused by a bad Canister Control Valve located
on the air filter housing. You can test it the same way. This valve
turns on and kind of clicks rapidly when power and ground are applied.

There can also be a leak in the evaporative system. This is very
difficult to find, and you'd need special equipment to test for a
leak. Your best bet is a mechanic. They see the P0446 everyday, and
they'll be able to diagnose the problem relatively easily. Usually
they charge 1 hour labor to diagnose it. From there you can repair it
yourself if you want.I hope this helps and good luck.
Please remember to vote i have a 98 camery and po446 came up at the smog - 69d98a1.jpg if this helps in any way. Thanks.

My 02 camry le failed emmission test whats wrong error codes po440, po441, po446, po420

You have codes for a failed exhaust converter,PO420,
EVAP System problem PO440,Incorrect Purge Flow PO441,
Evap Vent Control issues,PO446

Your car is all messed up

That should have been all checked, BEFORE you spent time
in line for inspection

If all the codes are for real & not a false report

You will need new spark plugs, ignition & fuel checked,
new exhaust converters, new evap purge valve, new evap
vent solenoid & possibly vacuum leaks resolved

You either bought someones neglected vehicle or never
do a thing but drive it

May be easier to get a different vehicle, your repair bill
will start at $1,000 & go up, from not being proactive & taking
care of what is required in owning any vehicle (lack of knowledge)

You will need the oxygen sensors also & no, they won't fix the
amount, of what appears to be several failed items, all at one time

So much for Toyota being better than other vehicles

Oseneck99 toyota camery got a po401 code i replaced egr valve and egr pressure sensor. now i have codes po441 po446 please help.

Recheck all the vacuum lines near the EGR solenoid. The new codes are for the EVAP emissions system. they are codes for incorrect purge flow. You may have left a vacuum line of, switched a couple of lines or forgot to plug something back in.

Check engine light on, failed smog due to leak in tranny 98 sable

Your modulator valve on the outside rear of the tranny may be leaking tranny fluid into the vacuum line and it it is being burnt and exhausted by the engine. The valve has a thin diaphram within and over a period of time it can leak the fluid into the line. This must be replaced before it becomes a situation where the tranny will not shift out of low gear. Thank you, Dana

1996 Nissan Maxima GXE Fail Smog Check Due To ECM System Failure

There is no way to fix this issue according to my Nissan Dealer Service Manager. The monitors will not run and therefore the vehicle will not pass smog. If you need assistance from California's SMOG authority they are called "The Referee" and you can call them at 1-800-622-7733.
