I have a 2000 Hyundai sonata 2.4L 4 cyl.. When I run it on the highway for say about 20-25 minutes, when I get off and come to a stop the RPM's drop to 4 or 5 hundred and the car shakes/sputter hard from a moment and then the RPM'S come back up and it still shakes a little but not as violently. Sometimes its so bad that it will shake/sputter and almost feel like it wants to jump forward before the idle smooths out. I have changed the spark plugs, Oil, air filter and yet the problem prevails. Its seems to only happen when the car is run at higher speeds on the highways not the back road...could it be a transmission problem...I hope not!!! Please help!

It sound like a sensor is bad...maybe the mass air flow??? I would send the car to someone that can scan the car on a road test...that would find the bad sensor

Firing Order for a 2002 Hyundai Sonata

Since the 4 cyl engine uses direct ignition, here is the info for the V6.
Standing in front of the car, the cylinders in front are 2-4-6 and the cylinders next to the firewall are 1-3-5.
The wires on the coil are 1-4-5-2-3-6. The actual firing order is 123456.

My Hyundai Sonata GLS, with 2.5 Liter 6 cyl.

You cannot, First thing you need to do is get the codes using a diagnostic scanner that is able to access the airbag module. Your basic code reader will not do this. The code will tell you what airbag has an issue. If your a smoker in the car most likley the ASH destroyed the clockspring under the steeing wheel.

2000 hyundai sonata.. P0300, P0110 and P0102 codes..

Higher octane gas 93 with some good octane boost in the black can at autozone cost about 7 dollars or a bottle of 104 octane boost. Change the fuel filter. Probably only one coil pack is bad. The OBDII reader should tell you which one was a misfire.

99 HYUNDAI SONATA, ENGINE WHEN WARM CONTINOUSLY REVS

Sme thing happened to me, but the advice is grim. I had to have the whole transmission replaced because of a bad torque converter...I would be sitting at a light and the car would just go all by itself, or as I was driving down the highway the tach. would go crazy and shut the car down into "safe" mode where it would not go out of first gear. Other times I would have to keep both feet on the brakes because the car would be pulling so hard! The dealership told me the crankshaft position sensor too, then a month later the car just shut down and would not start. Hope this helps.
