I have a 2000 nissan quest we have had a tune up, waterpump, fuel filter, front/rear catalyt converters replaced, battery replaced, transmission speed sensor replaced - it is sputtering and cutting off while driving and then won't start..... HELP???

take it autozone and have it scanned. There are multiple possibilities to O2 sensors, intake air temp, fuel pressure, bad plugs weak spark bad catalytic converter, leaking injector etc. Everybody knows someone who knows somebody that knows someone that has a $29.00 scanner, but has absolutely no clue or idea what codes mean. or the possible solutions. Stop wasting time and money throwing parts at it.
im should be I'm
It could be to much air, not enough fuel. Or to much fuel, not enough air. Most likely the first, unless you notice a lot of black smoke when accelerating. Check engine light on? Also could be the catalytic converter/s. Have the codes read. repost.
distributor cap ? w/ rotor (inside) , also, a tune-up includes the following, : replace spark plugs, plug wires, both the air & fuel filters, an absolute must !!!!!! change motor oil, & oil filter. and one more maintenance issue always over looked, change the TRANSMISSION fluid & filter !!!!!! (do not over-fill ) . if everyone did all these before winter & or inspection time, they wouldn't have the problems they get.
When your engine is cold it runs in open loop, and bypasses the oxygen sensor. When warm it goes into closed loop, with the oxygen sensor controlling the fuel mixture. Replace the sensor. murf427
underneath vehicle towards drivers side about mid way between front and rear wheels.its covered by a plastic cover that is secured by i think 4 ten mm bolts.please let me know if this helped.
The Heated Oxygen Sensor (1 or 2) located rear of catalytic converter produces an output signal relative to oxygen storage capacity of catalytic converter. Ho2S 2 signal is less active than signal produced by front oxygen sensor. This code sets when HO2 Sensor voltage is greater than 999 mV for more than 2 minutes (time depends on model. Could be as high as 4 minutes)
Symptoms: There may be no noticeable symptoms except for MIL illumination. Possible high fuel pressure can over rich the system.
Causes: A code P0138 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: * Faulty O2 sensor * Short to battery voltage in O2 sensor signal circuit * High fuel pressure (not as likely)
Here are some potential solutions: * Replace O2 sensor * Repair short to battery voltage in o2 sensor signal circuit
Sounds like a plugged catalytic converter especially if the engine light isn't on. Just open the exhaust system ahead of the converter and see how it runs.
It sounds like the catalytic converter. I had the same problem. What to check....after driving for a couple of miles pull over and look underneath at the converter, if it is glowing there is your trouble.
