The AC fan in my car (volvo s40-99) does not work

On the radiator trace the wires from the fan to the radiator and you will find

are you getting power to the fan? could be a weak fan motor. I would start by checking Fuse then relay the check the temp sensor the fan don't use the same sensor as the temp gauge.

Check your blower motor

I have the same prob except mine is intermittent at the mo. Spoke to an electrical mechanic today who informs me that a new dash is needed. According to other forums second hand one's don't work but it may be possible to send yours off and have it repaired.

Our local Police are targetting Volvo drivers for just owning one!

This is the start of many problems - trade it now.

It sounds like your cooling fans are not working.Need to check the cooling fan fuses,and the cooling fan relays.There is also a high side switch mounted somewhere on the high side of the ac system that cuts the fans on,or kicks them up on high speed when the ac system gets to high on the high side of the system.This switch may also cut the compressor off.I would check the fuses and relays for these fans first,this is more likely the problem.Is the car running normal temperature? If not the fans may not be running at all.Have them checked.The fan or fans may be bad them selfs.If I can be any more help,let me know.>>[email protected]

connection on temp coolant sensor must be bad the wax the keeps pins in place will melt causing poor connection ac to stop working and fans .. check connection on fans two yellow wires .. also wax melts causing poor connection

it sounds more like a temperature control module to me, that is the electronic module that controls your entire ac system, JUNKYARD PARTS

hi there have you checked the fuses yet?

the a/c condenser has a fan in front ( there is actually 2 fans if you sit on the car it will be fan on right side ) if this fan does not
come on immediately when you are parked and engine in idle
there is a problem with power to it, or motor failure. If you drive it
on the highway and a/c operates fine that's because air is circulating though condenser (thats what the fan is supposed to do at idle or slow traffic)
