Hello joma_enrique: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. You say you have the hub and bearing unit off of the van. Your new hub is a sealed unit. You can not install new bearings into the old hub. You must install the new hub and bearing as a unit back into the backing plate. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. This way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

How to change the rear Hub Assembly on a 2001 dodge caravan

To be honest if you did know who to do it in the first place I don't think it's safe that you should be doing it, a rear hub with abs sensors can have alot of problems ie if you damage the sensor and the abs kicks in while driving down the motorway doing 70 your back wheel locks up fish tailing you out of control and smashing you and other cars up, you don't fix the hub back onto the axle at the correct torque causing your hub to come loose and detach, you don't connect the brake lines up causing air in the system and the rear shoes/pads not to grip..... All faults that could and have happened to people because they thought they could do it on there own

I need to know how to change the rear wheel bearings on my 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Hello pixxi 29: My name is Roger and I will help you. To replace the rear bears would be impossable to do. THis is a sealed unit you must replace the entire hub and bearing unit. To do this raise and support the van. Remove the rear tire and wheel. Remove the brake drum to expose the hub unit. Remove the 4 bolt that hold the hub onto the backing plate. Reinstall with the new hub and bearing and tighten the bolts. Make sue they are tight replace the brake drum and tire and wheel. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. hank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Rear wheel bearing

if its like the 99 winstar:

safely support the van, remove rear wheel, remove brake drum, remove grease cap. remove caged locknut assembly (38mm socket i think.) then pull the hub assembly from the axel. you may need to cut away the inner race if the bearing falls apart. clean axel, apply alittle anti size compound, then push on the new hub assembly. tighten down the hub nut to specifications (should be on the leaflet in the new bearing package), install dust cap, install drum, install wheel, lower and drive :)

On my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 2WD, I just found

This is a very simple job to do. Raise the front of truck off the ground, block the rear tires. Using pliers and a hammer, remove the grease cap from hub. Remove the cotter key and nut from axle, pull out slowly and remove outer bearing. then remove hub from axle. To remove inner bearing ,prop hub on a board and use a large punch to drive out bearing and seal. Clean out inside the hub and install new bearing and seal. Replace all parts in the reverse as you took them off. Hope this will help you.

How to replace rear wheel bearing

Hi there,

Well to replace the rear wheel bearing it is best to buy the hub with the new bearing pressed in already. The entire assembly runs about $100.00 at any part store. Remove whichever rear wheel you are replacing. The brake line or ABS sensor might be fastened to the rear of the hub so loose that up. Next there are only four bolts the that hold the hub assembly to the control arm. Take those four bolts off and you might need to tab out the hub assembly with a hammer due to rust but spray WD-40 or something similar to help move easier. Hit it from the rear. Don't worry about bang on the ABS sensor exciter ring because the new hub has one on already. Please post comments for further help or information.......

Good Luck!!

Noise in front wheels of 97 dodge dakota

this is at least one bad wheel bearing, the bearing that is bad will be on the side of the direction you steer that lessens the noise.
