How much would i cost to repair a timing belt on a 2000 dodge neon?

You would be looking to spend anywhere from 650 at the very low end to 1100 on the higher side. Most shops can do this for 700-850 on the average. The reason for this is the engine needs to be pulled in order to do it properly. Average labor hours for this is 14-22, of course it depends on what the shop charges for labor. Definitely call around for the best rates. You could do it yourself with the right tools and manuals for around 30-100 dollars if you have the tools at your disposal. I hope this helps with your decision.

SOURCE: Maintenance Costs for a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

I have a 2000 grand caravan with 234000 miles i have had since new. I have had no major problems with it. My best suggestion is if it acts up get it checked. Do not wait until it breaks it should last a while for you. I plan on driving it until it hits 300000. I average maybe 500 a year on general maintence type things. Between, tires, oil changes and things that have never gone bad so it is a very reliable vehicle. Good luck

Changing a timing belt is not a very easy task for a novice do it yourselfer. If you've never done it before you may want to have someone who has done it before help you out.

On most engines your going to have to take off a whole slew of parts to get to the timing belt such as timing cover, valve cover, belts, pulleys, alternator, a/c compressor, etc.

On a Honda Civic four cylinder engine it takes me about four hours to do in my own garage with simple tools. And I've done a few quite a few timing belts on different cars now.

I hope this gets you started in the right directions, and please let me know if I can assist you any further,

hello there:
if you were to take it to a shop it will cost you about $600 plus i would suggest that you do both sides at the same time if you were to do it you're self the the cost would be much less but you would still need to take the heads in to have them machined and have new valve guides put in hope thgis helps you out sincerely D.Jones
