Its really not that hard but ou do hahe to get under your car. lift your care up so that you can fit well under it . Support your car with jack stands for safty than on de side of the transmission there is a plug, the plug is round with a square in the middle the use your 3/8 rachet to take it off if transmission fluid leaks out transmission fluid level is fine if not add some trough that same hole till it leaks out then put your plug back on.

I have a 2005 ford mustang v6 and lately when I put the car in drive it won't move I press the gas and it then jumps into gear also I was driving one day and the car sound like it was in neutral I was...

sounds like the transmission is low on fluid. Have you noticed any fluid on the ground under the car? Have any mechanic check the level, could be a rear main seal leaking. If not then you have transmission problems. Also try putting the car in low gear and see if it does the same thing. could possibly be just a linkage problem and an adjustment will cure it..again any good mechanic can figure it out easily....good luck

Why does transmission jerks when shifting 2-3 gear

just as precaution, have you been changing the trans fluid as recommended. Start off simple, check the fluid level, change the fluid and filter if due. Read the owner's manual for how to check the fluid level. Check for any loose wiring connectors that go to the trans. IF this is no help. Get to a reputable trans shop.

Gear slipping between 2nd and 3rd

most shifting probs on the late model vehicles are caused by the shift solenoids or the vehicle speed sensors. look at that first, then figure out when you last had the trans fluid changed and the filter replaced, and the bands adjusted.

Convertible top motor runs for a few seconds and quits. top goes uo about 6 inches but settles back when motor quits. how can i check to see if motor is still good or if needs replacing?

the motor just pumps hydraulic fluid into the lift pistons. If you are low on fluid, the motor can't create enough pressure to run the pistons. Check the fluid level.

Section 01-17: Convertible 1994 Mustang. Workshop Manual
ADJUSTMENTS Fluid Level
  1. Remove rear seat. Refer to Section 01-10 .
  1. Carefully remove the rubber fill plug from the back and the reservoir and check the fluid level. The level should be at the bottom of the filler hole. If necessary, add Synthetic Mercon® Multi-Purpose Automatic transmission fluid E6AZ-19582-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M2C163-A2. srb~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: Do not overfill or the reservoir seal could be blown out.
  1. Replace fill plug with a new fill plug.
  1. Bleed system as outlined if necessary.

99 ford mustang 3.8 Transmission jumping into lower gear

you may want to check the fluid level after putting that conditioner in, and also make sure the conditioner wasn't the type that you are only suppose to run for 30miles or so. When checking your auto trans fluid, make sure the vehicle is at an idle, and sitting steady. Take the stick out, wipe it, and check again. If you have too much fluid in it, the trans will jump from the lack of friction, and build up of pressure. I am not sure of your particular model, but you may have a drain plug on the trans. And another note, if your trans is too low, the same thing goes into effect.
