would try and bring the temp down by lower degree thermostat hi-volume water pump bigger radiator maybe even double check timing sounds like you might be boiling fuel and hydro locking it

your alternator or voltage regulator is having a problem to test this start your car and disconect the negative on the batery if the car dies then thats the problem.
It sounds like it's not getting enough fuel to the engine if it stalls when you let up off the gas pedal but stays running with your foot on the gas it sounds like you need a new fuel pump and or fuel filter for the car.I can almost garantee thats part of the problem
sounds like ur torque convertor is locked up you can unplug the wiring harness to it n drive it like that and save yourself $700 this happen on my 90 pontiac i drove it for next 5 years with no problem
