Spark plugs should not have anything to do with new noise, but the oil probably will. did you put 5w30 in just now? i would not put anything in lighter than 5w30. synthetic oil is not better than regular oil, it just allows you to go longer inbetween oil changes. i would go back to 5w30 and if they are still noisy, try 5w40.

Testimonial: "Have been using 5W30 but dealer stopped using 5W30. They have changed to Synthetic Oil. U want me to go back to 5W30??"

yea, it will not hurt anything by using the synthetic, but usually vehicles from 2002 were designed to use 5w30. let me know what happens

Dodge neon 2.0 L sohc how to remove lifters from rocker arms

Ok here is the deal, the lifters are poorly designed and prone to noise or "tick", the way to silence this is not just new lifters but new rocker arm assemblies which include new lifters. Use the best parts not the cheapest ones, factory new one are improved from previous designs. If you still want to just replace the lifters you must take the rockers to a machine shop and have the lifters pressed out and replaced by them. Another suggestion is if you live in a warm climate use 10W-30W synthetic oil.

One of 6 lifters is making a "ticking noise", I have changed oil and filter and now use synthetic 10w30 oil w/1 qt. of Lucas additive. Still have problem and sometimes it stops and then returns.

You have a lifter noise if you leave it at idle does it return and gets louder? and when you rev it up does it go away? If it does you are looking at a failed oil pump. Look at the front main pulley is it wobbly? The reason I ask is the 300 has a high oil pump failure pattern when it fails it takes out the timing chain these you need to beaware of

Lifter noise when cold

Change the engine oil and filter.Use a fully synthetic oil this will stick to the lifters where other oils drop down to the bottom of the engine when switched off. leaving the lifters dry. The oil has to travel back up to the lifters when cold and that's the noise you hear.

Makes noise when car starts then stops so im figuring lifters how much do you think it will cost to fix

Change the oil. Use Mobil1 5w30, if you are in freezing weather. Guessing that its lifters and then wanting to know the cost will not help you. It will cost $5-700, so you need to be sure thats what it is. Checking oil pressure is the first step.

What is engine oil type, 2001 durango 4-wheel 4.7 engine

You can use any of the following weights of motor oil: 5W30, 10W30, or 10W40. Personally, I use Mobil1 Synthetic 5W30 in my pickup. Synthetic is better for your motor (you can go 5,000 miles between oil changes with synthetic oils) but once you start using it it's better if you stay with it meaning every oil change you use synthetic oil.

I have 1997 chevy Z-71 sometimes on startup the engine makes a knocking sound for about 3 seconds and goes away. I dont know if I have a major problem or not can you help?

I think it is normal for these vehicles. My '97 Tahoe did it also and I'd heard it was normal and not to be worried about. Kind of sucks but I had 150,000 miles on mine and it was fine.

Good luck.
