The battery that powers the break away switch connects to the ground wire or to the frame. Normally the white wire is the ground. The positive will connect to one side of the break away switch and the other side will connect to the brake feed wire... normally the blue wire. This way when the pin is pulled, power will feed to the brake feed wiring. Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx.

I need to know what the numbers mean on a ford wiring diagram for 2014 thor windsport brake light wiring

Get a shop manual. If you're putting in a trailer harnes, try a uhaul center. They do it all the time and much cheaper than the dealer.

All trailer lights work on my travel trailer except there are no brake lights to trailer. The issue I can see is there is no power to the brakes at the 3:00 o'clock and 9:00 o'clock pins on my 2004 g

there will be only 1 power wire for the brake lights as they are connected .together. What you are looking at are the indicator lights (1 left wire and 1 right wire)

How should I prepare my durango to pull a 24 foot travel trailer...what class of hitch, do I need in-board electric trailer brake controls, etc.?

Hi Frank,
I have a Durango 2000 and pull a 24 foot ski boot loaded with equipment. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't try towing anything without the trailer brakes connected. I purchased the Titan Trailer brakes setup and they've never failed me once. The hitch: just make sure you get the right towing capacity for your travel trailer. I have the 5.9 liter engine, which allows up to 6500 pounds of towing capacity. Your owners guide will explain how many based on engine size.
Good Luck, and happy traveling.

I have a 2005 silverado, I am tring to wire a 4 wire trailer plug to this truck. I have 1 wire to right signal, 1 wire to left signal, 1 wire to running lights and a ground wire. My problem is on the truck...

Under the pan on the drivers side u can install the proper harnes for your trailer. The maim post for trailer brakes is on the front fuse panel under the hood.If you are running your own in line trailer lights...........I would start at the main break away dis-connect.

2003 Chevy HD trailer wiring problem

I have the exact same issue. I have also tested my trailer on other vehicles and it works fine. I even purchased a light up tester and found the problem at the harness. It seems like a bad ground to me but I can't seem to find one.

The trailer lights have a common brake/turn wire while the truck has seperate turn and brake lights. I think the problem lies with the device that marries the two for the trailer wiring but I don't know where to find it?

No running lights on boat trailer towed by 2008 ford f150

You can purcahse a tester which will connect into the F-150's wiring harnes. If the led lights up, the problem is witht he trailer's wiring harness. this tester will indicate the proper operation of the brake light and turn signals.
