Yes it does show a p0341 code I/C camshaft postion module,,,,,but its very deciving as there is NO camshaft position module on these cars,,,it means there is a secondary ignition problem,,,like old spark plugs and wires(do not use bosch platinum plugs),,or a crank sensor which is located in the engine block under the intake manifold,,,,or a ignition module which is what the spark plug wires connect to by the trans,,,,it could be any of those,,,i would start with spark plugs and wires and clear the code and see if it comes back,,these cars are odd with this code,,i didnt understand it either til i became a saturn tech

Cam shaft sensor bank 1

Your camshaft sensor is shot. I had the same problem on my 03 coupe. There are two camshaft sensors. They are located on the back side of each cylinder head. My 1st one went out and I replaced it and then the other went out about a week later. The sensors cost roughly $70 each and aren't that difficult to change. Hope this helps.

2006 Chevy Impala SS. Engine light came on while enroute to Jiffy Lube. They said it is coming up as cam shaft. Am taking to Radley Chev. How long does this take approximately & is this dangerous to...

The engine light means you have a code stored that can be read.
A place like Autozone will read it for free.
Only with the code can we tell if it is serious or minor.

My saturn is idoling high the machine says its cam sensor, im hearing theres not one what could it be if not cam sen

Camshaft Position Sensor

This vehicle does not have a Camshaft Position Sensor. The manufacture does make references to "CAM" in some of the trouble code descriptions but this is NOT a reference to a Camshaft Position Sensor.

Notes On System Inputs

The EI module does not receive a signal from the crankshaft position sensor. Instead the CPK sensor signal is being received and processed by the PCM. The El module does, however, contain circuitry to determine camshaft position without using a camshaft sensor, by use of compression sense ignition (CSI).

P0340 - Cam Timing

SYMPTOMS/CONDITIONS
of a mistimed camshaft system (all must apply):
  1. Camshafts have previously been removed from the engine.
  2. Engine runs rough.
  3. Vehicle sets P0340 (camshaft sensor code).
  4. Camshaft sensor has been checked with a known, properly operating camshaft sensor.

CORRECT:
The diagram in the manuals should show the timing marks on both cam gears to be on the blue timing chain links.

I have a diagnostic code 340 and 320 on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee. What might the problem be?

DTC P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
Symptoms can include:
  • Hard starting or no start
  • Rough running / misfiring
  • Loss of engine power
Causes:A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
  • a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
  • the camshaft position sensor may have failed
  • the PCM may have failed
  • there exists an open circuit
  • the crankshaft position sensor may have failed

Possible Solutions:With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:
  • Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
  • Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
  • Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
  • Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
  • Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
  • Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
  • Diagnose/replace the PCM as required

DTC P0320 also have with this wrong.

Keep getting code p0018 and p0022. plus car is rough on idle. is it expensive to fix.

Hi, a P0018 definition is Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 2 Sensor A). A P0022 definition is "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 2).

More info on the P0022 code @ http://www.obd-codes.com/p0022

As for the cost to fix, I'm not sure off-hand. A qualified technician should be able to diagnose that likely within 1-2 hours of shop time.

I also have a saab 900 s with the 2.3 L. I started throwing the same code. I found out from the Hanes manual that the CMP sensor is integrated into the distributor on this model. Which explains why the distributor costs so much. You might want to check your distributor out and makes sure their is no oil in the cap and that the black electric plug is fit on correctly. If it's okay just watch for rough idle (that's what mine started doing), unfortunately it looks like if your cam position sensor needs to be replaced you have to replace the entire distributor.
