Parking lights on Nissan Frontier on - trailer parking not. 4 pin connector to factory connector (after market sealed wiring) - brake and turn signals work - no power to "brown" wire at factory connector fitting - I tried hooking brown to license plate bulb but then brake lights stayed on. Any thoughts?

First check the fuses. There may be one for trailer running lights. Check also power at the harness. If the brake lights and turn signals are seperate, there has to be a converter from 5 to 4 wire. For the power to feed back to the brake lights it sounds like the vehicle wiring is direct and not using a converter... or one of the bulbs on the trailer is contacting both contacts. Try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx and maybe get a simple 4 pin tester that plugs into the 4 pin connecter. Hope this helps.

Park break light stays on sometimes

Check the parking brake light switch which is located under the center module, remove the cover around the parking brake and you'll find it there.

I am connecting a trailer towing harness to my Nissan 2004 Titan (2wd), to tow my boat and need to know what the color codes to the parking, stop, and reverse wires are.

if you go to the parts store they make them ready to plug in you will have to just unplug the tail lights and plug the wire harness inplace of it then itll plug back into the original spot.

I have a 2008 Ford F 150 with factory installed trailer wiring. I bought a trailer plug tester. It shows the tail light function to be dead. Brake lights, turn signals all work. Any ideas?

The trailer tow adapter parking lamps is fuse #10 in the cab fuse panel. There is also a trailer tow parking lamp relay that powers them, which could have a problem as well.
Start with the fuse, and maybe check both the 7 pin and the 4 pin for the parking lamps, could be a corroded pin on one of them causing the tester to not see the power on the pin.

No trailer right turn signal or brake light

Hey Boon,

The pinouts for a 7-way plug are as follows:
Seven wire Trailer plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:

White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Yellow = Left turn/Brake - 5
Green = Right turn Brake - 6
Orange or Purple (not both) = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Recreational Vehicle:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Green = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Red = Left turn/Brake - 5
Brown = Right turn Brake - 6
Yellow = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

In both cases 4 is battery and 7 is reverse, aux or not used.

Double check your wiring using these lists as a reference.

I just installed the 7 pin factory trailer harness but i have no right turn or trailer markers . 2005 nissan frontier

In the passenger side behind the plastic kick panel there is a control module that works the trailer lights, if you got the towing package. My lights were malfunction and it turned out the unit in the kick panel was not wired up properly from the dealer. Have a dealer check it or get the installation diagrams from a nissan dealer or the web and investigate your module on your own. Best of luck.

1998 navigator trailer harness

try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have very good concise information that might help. You can take a 12 volt test light and check your fuses also. Touch each side of the fuse on the metal part that is exposed. Use your emergency flashers to do this. The turn signal/brake light fuse will only power when it is in use. Check owners manual as there are probably seperate fuses for the trailer and the vehicle. There is probably a connector under the vehicle near the back... usually above the spare tire that can come loose, but not likely unless it is broken. Hope this helps, Mike

I am adding trailer lights to my 1998 nissan frontier

You may be better off checking at dealer, or autoparts store for an adapter harness that goes inline. They simply plug into the harness ahead of all your tailights etc, and make it easier. At most, you may end up having to run a separate wire for brake control.

2007 Nissian Frontier trailer lights

There should be a 30 AMP mini blade fuse in the fuse box under the hood that you are probably missing. I assume that since you got the relays with the wiring kit, that you got the kit from a Nissan dealer. If that is true, there should be a fuse in the kit also- in a sealed bag that has the "trailer wiring harness owner's manual" in it.

Hope this is helpful!

Trailer wiring

you have to purchase a converter box with 5 wires, red, yellow, green and brown. this is because your turn signal is seperate from you parking and brake light bulb. you have to wire it straight in behind the connector.your basically converting two wires ( brakes and parking) to one wire (tailights) 5 wire to 4 wire.
