To check the fan, wire it up direct to the battery,if the wire gets real hot,and ,or the fan does not work,or spins slow, then the cooling fan is bad.If it seems to run fine, replace the cooling fan relay.

My Corolla VE 2000 is stuck on Park and blows ECU-IG fuse. Appreciate any help for troubleshooting?

ABS, Cruise control, radiator fan, shifter lock, and theft control are the circuits on that fuse. I would start with unplugging the radiator fan, and then possibly the ABS, then install a new fuse and see if it pops again. The cruise should only be able to blow it after you turn it on, so make sure its left off for testing. Theft control likewise should only use that circuit when its active. Radiator fans and their harnesses are frequent causes of that fuse blowing

2005 cobalt put new radiator fan on still blows fuse even if the fan is not pluged in just hopeing someone had same problem with theirs

If you had a 5 amp fuse and fan draws 3 amps all is good.
BUT, if there is a short circuit before the fan, it will blow the fuse.
Check the wiring is not chaffed or worn between fuse box and fan, or switch to fan.

My radiator fan does not come on and the fuse inside fuse power distribution center keeps blowing, whats my problem also no radio..fuse also blowing

Unplug the radiator fan, replace the fuse and see if it blows again. If not, then its likely the radiator fan is shorted. Use an ohm meter and see what the resistance is. It should be greater than 5 ohms.

Radiator fan not working in 93 Dodge Spirit V-6. Temp gauge in instrument cluster inside works fine. Is there a separate or dedicated coolant temp sensor for rad fan, different than the temp sensor...

in fuse box there should be a relay marked "fan" swap it for another relay say from heater and see if this fixes problem, also check if fan spins freely, it may be causing fuse to blow if it is a bit old& seized

I can see that a fuse (marked 30 A) related to my radiator fan has blown. Actually labeled fan hi in the vehicle owners manual. My vehicle started running a little hot and I noticed the radiator fan wasn't...

yes its a very large main fuse you can find at any auto parts store to make sure you could swap it out with fuse like the horn or other accessory and see if it works but the blown one needs to be replaced anyway

Why does my fuse for the radiator fan keep blowing

This is a sign that you have a power wire that is shorted to ground. First check the power wire leading to your fan to see if there is a possible short to ground. Sometimes if the wires are not secure, they can rub up against the spinning fan or melt against the exhaust, and then possibly short against the motor or frame. If the wires appear to be o.k., then check the fan motor to see if it is bad. Try spinning the fan blade manually and if it makes noise or won't spin, replace the motor. Once you isolate the short and repair it, you should be able to install a new fuse with no problem.

The Cooling fan on a vw vr6 1997 runs constantly runs more or less from start up any ideas thankyou.

Things that keep the fans on

First, check fuses. On top of the battery there is a fuse block. The 1st green fuse on the left is for fan operation. Take it out, check it for heat damage. A lot of times the fuse won't blow, but there will be heat damage to the fuse and holder. If there's damage, you have had an high current draw and the relay might be stuck or the fan(s) are binding.
While we are there, with the fuse out spin the fans by hand and see if they do anything but spin free. If binding, replace the fan. A high draw from a binding fan will burn out new components in the same way.
With the fuse back in, check the fuse panel on the drivers' side of the dash. One at a time pull fuse #5, #16 and #25 and check them. If one of them blows, the fans can run unexpectedly.
Still running?

A/C- If your a/c button is on, this would keep the fans on always. Turn off the climate control system, make sure the A/C switch is off too.
Still running? Go under the hood and unplug the A/C pressure switch. It's on an A/C line just before it enters the cabin. If you unplug it and the fans stop this is your issue.
Still running?

Next would to unplug the rad. thermo. switch. It's on the drivers side of the radiator about a foot down from the upper rad hose. It screws into the radiator and has a triangular connecter. Unplug it. If the fans go off, this is your issue.
Still running?

After you are SURE everything else checks out, last cause would be to replace the fan control module. It's the block right next to the thermo switch you just fooled with, the connecter is facing up.

a bad coolant temp sensor might do this too

I just changed my radiator, thermostate. But it is still overheating.I don't see any smokes, but the gauge for the temperature above normal. What should I do?

The radiator fan may not be blowing.
Idle car with parking brake engaged.
Turn OFF Air Conditioner
Pop open hood and look at the radiator fan.
It is not spinning.
Turn ON Air Conditioner and look at fan.
The fan MUST be spinning.

Replace the "Radiator fan" relay switch.
Check primary fuses and replace as needed.
