The switch needs to be replaced. Over time and use the wires tend to break off their contact points. Hope this helps.

Headlights dont work unless holding dimmer switch for bright lights

I would think the problem lies with the dimmer switch on the steering column, since this is a very expensive part please have a local dealer confirm my guess.

Have to hold up turn signal arm to get the bright lights to work

Could be a problem with the dimmer switch, a relay, or the headlight switch.

I have been having some problems with my headlights not running properly. The automatic headlights don't go on automatically anymore and now when I try to turn on the lights manually that doesn't always...

there is a relay under the hood in the fuse/relay panel called drl, or daytime running lamps, that relay is most likely bad, a good way to tell is switch it with the high beam relay, if they come on you know thats it, if they dont, its the relay for the lowbeams, again switch it with the high beam relay and see.. either way i can tell you for sure one of those two are bad... but most of the time it is the daytime running lamps, or sometimes called driving lights relay. hope this helps you

1999 buick century. headlights won't come on automatically. Nor will they come on when pulling out the headlight knob. Bright lights will turn on if I hold (and continue to hold) the turning signal switch....

Sounds like you don't have power to the switch or the auto switch. When you pull on the turn switch you are just flahing the high beams.Almost all gm's will do that.Would try and check fuses or get a wiring digrahm and see were the power comes from to feed the switch. If you work on apliances its about the same.Well good luck

Headlight will not work and the bright light do but they will not stay on unless you pull the turn signal switch forward and hold it. I do not know if it is a ground problem or a daylight sensor problem....

Once again, it sounds to me like a bad multifunction switch. Very common problem. Fairly expensive, you wouldnt really want to replace it just on my say so.

1999 Buick Century headlights don't work properly

Iam an ASE Certified mechanic and i had the same problem with my 99 century and i wasnt able to drive at night. After hours of testing wires we came to the problem. Its the turn signal switch assembly which is tied into the hazard switch on top of the steering column. Its all one piece with a 3 foot long wiring harness attached to it running down the bottom of the steering column and going underneath the dash. The least expensive place i found the part and had it in stock was my local Auto Zone and still the part was $200.00.

P.S. This is a common problem on these GM cars. Mine did the same thing to the tee! The lights will go on and off then they just went off for good and this solved the problem. I guarantee it. If you have any questions please email me i will do all i can to help.

I have a 2000 Buick Century and if you hold the switch the brights will work but the low beams will not work not a bulb issue. The turn signals will work but still no head lights
