How do you replace a cranch shaft positioning sensor on a 1997 ford windstar. is it heard?

try the auto shufoff relay..this controls the fuel pump..

Code PO1309 : Misfire Monitor Failure Description : When the misfire monitor is disabled,usually due to the input signal generated by the camshaft position sensor, by sensing the passage of teeth from the camshaft position wheel. Possible Causes : PCM(power train control module), Mass Air Flow Sensor, Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, Crank Shaft Position Sensor, Camshaft Position Sensor.

OK, on a 1998 Ford Taurus have a service engine soon light. Scanning it said the Camshaft Sensor circuit was bad. So I replaced the camshaft sensor. Cleared the code and it came back.

In the winter time it comes, and in the summer time it goes away (or after a week or so of warm weather).

I think it's a wiring problem or a bad calibration of distance to the reluctor ring.

I think your problem on the 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX is the same thing.

the input to the sensor must also be checked. this link provides some diagnostic procedures. diagnosis for camshaft and crankshaft sensors are similar, as stated in the article.

Also, its possible that you have activated the Theft System; for details about disarm check your Ford-Windstar-Owners-Manual.

Normally the Part on the transmission is a female connector and the part you got out is from the cable. just replace the cable. However, this connector on the transmission should be replaceable as well but will require a Transmission technician to do it.

IN THE PASSENGER WHEEL WELL YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT TO GET TO IT...AND MAKE SURE THE ENG..IS COLD .....

It is located at the right rear of the engine block. It has a plug with three wires in it. Hope this helps.

the throttle position sensor would be about 30- 50 dollars depending on what brand Motorcraft is the factory Oem brand. replacing it only takes about ten minutes
