Possible security light problem on 1999 pontiac firebird...

I have a 1999 Pontiac Firebird. A few months ago, my security light came on when I started the car. Everything ran fine, the past two weeks however, the car has randomly started to shut off while driving. CPU check showed ignition mode problem, and not a fuel system problem. Car will sometimes start again after a few minutes, until the past few days when it wouldn't start at all. Had new VAT key made for car. Security light still on though when I went to see if key worked, didn't drive it anywhere though. Im really hoping to avoid a $500 dealership repair. Anything else I can do to reset, fix, or shut off security on the car?

Why is my security light flashing and it starts but shuts down after a few seconds?

Possible issue with you security module. I think it is linked to your BCM, but I could be wrong. I had the same issue some time ago. After 10 minutes, the car would start. Try getting another key at the dealership. It could be that the chip in your key is starting to go bad.

My 1998 pontiac firebird security light is on and will not start. What do I do?

Usually the sensor in the key lock is not reading the chip in the key, or the chip has failed.
I would try a spare key first. If the light stays on with both keys, you'll need to get the anti-theft system checked out.
