Have dropped a sidelight bulb in the glass of the headlight glass on an X-type Jaguar. What is the easiest way of getting it out?? Do I have to take off the bumper and remove the glass covers from the front? Any ideas??

Job done - I got a "bendy" drinking straw the ones that have the bendy bit towards one end. Looped a thread of cotton through this (loop at one end done by threading a needle on the cotton and dropping it through the straw, holding the "loop" bit and dropping it back again)
Then I removed the "full beam lamp just to give a bit more room (this may not be necessary) - then its a game of lasso on the contact end of the bulb, if it is trapped at the back of the headlight you need to bend the straw against the fron glass to kink the straw a bit to get to the back.
Draw the cotton in VERY tight and hold it like this, carefully pull the straw and bulb back so the contact end comes out first! took me 3 attempts but well worth not having to take the front bumper off!!!!

:-) hope this helps - or simply just be carefull pulling the running or sidelight bulb out by the connector wires!

All Jaguar X type headlight bulbs are H-1. Any auto parts store will carry it. No matter the quality, just ask for H-1. What you want to spend depends on you.

How do i replace the sidelight bulbs on my 1999 audi a4? do i need to take the whole headlight unit off or is there a simpler way? I can get to the wires that conect to the sidelight bulb but my fingers...

You don't need to remove the whole headlight but instead the side light bulb is normally clipped to the headlight. Some are held by a small cover which you either need to rotate it or unclipped it out.Hope this helps.

Need a quick breakdown on how to replace a headlight bulb on a 2004 Jaguar x-type, 6 cyl., 3.0

do you know what H type of bulbs you have?
some are just a twist other have a clip that needs to be pressed and let fold down to allow bulb removal.

in the engine comartment behind where the headlight are there are either rubber boots or clips that need to be removed to expose the back on the buld.
remove the retaining clip as mentioned above or gently twist he bulb to remove it. now remove the old bulb from its holding wire.

when inserting the new bulb do not touch the glass as oil from the skin and disrupt its performance.
reverse the removal process and do the same on the other side.

NOTE: the new bulbs elements are in a slightly different postion in the bulb than the old ones (no two bulbs are exactly alike) for best visibilty have you headlight realligned after bulb replacement.

Unable to change 2009 sidelight bulb

On the sidelight, there is a Phillips screw which is hidden by the headlamp assembly. Remove headlight assembly and look for the Phillips screw. Once unscrewed, pull lens unit straight out and then you should be able to change bulb.

there is a cover in front of battery or ABS module depending on which bulb is blown, is held on with 2 spring clips, pop off clips, cover can be moved aside. becarefull have seen connector melt to headlight bulb requiring replacement as well. DO NOT touch the bulb by the glass.
