Re: Remote door transmiter won't unlock doors. open doors...
Sounds like either your battery is dead in the remote or it "lost its memory". We've had them in the shop before where all we do it reprogram them and they work again.
I cannot think of how to do it with out our tools here @ the dealer. I will ask around and if I find a way for it I will post it. Might be easier to just goto the dealer.I cannot think of how to do it with out our tools here @ the dealer. I will ask around and if I find a way for it I will post it. To arm content theft alarm. 1. Open the door. 2. Lock the door with the power door lock switch or the remote keyless entry transmitter. The SECURITY light should flash. 3. Close all doors. The SECURITY light should go off after approximately 30 seconds. The alarm is not armed until the SECURITY light goes off.
If a locked door is opened without the key or the remote keyless entry transmitter, the alarm will go off. The headlamps and parking lamps will flash for two minutes, and the horn will sound for 30 seconds, then will turn off to save the battery power.
thats how its suppose to work the key resets alarm ==by a fob online for a few dollars and program to car [free program] ==when you use key to unlock and enter vehicle you have a few seconds after opening door to turn vehicle on or start it and doing so resets alarm when you leave vehicle and lock it alarm is active
remove the key from the ignition and press the UNLOCK. its saying the alarm was triggered, eg if door was opened without first using the unlock on the remote. maybe when alarm was armed not all doors were fully closed. or you just reconnected the battery so the door was open without you ever pressing the unlock on the remote(which could be called DISARM the alarm)
If the passkey is messed up, there will be a light on the dash that says security, or have a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If there is no light when the key is turned forward, then its NOT a passkey problem.
The key lock on the driver's side door is mechanically linked to a switch that turns the alarm on and off. You don't need a remote. Locking the door with the key turns the alarm on. Unlocking turns it off. I think the remote actually works through the same switch by mechanically locking or unlocking the door.
I've had a problem with mine intermittently setting off a false alarm as soon as the alarm is armed, which is about a minute after locking the door. It seems to be a problem with a switch in the trunk lid, because opening and closing the trunk is the only thing which relates to the problem appearing or not.
So my workaround, if the alarm is screwing up and I'm in a hurry, is to get out and walk around to the passenger side, open the door, press the dashboard door lock control to lock the doors, then close the door. That locks the doors without turning on the alarm system. To get back in I just use the remote or the door key.
Lock all the doors from the inside (with all the doors closed), unlock your driver's door by manually lifting the lock, then press it back down after you are out - this will prevent the alarm from sounding when you use the key to unlock the door.
