Brake fluid in the reservoir is low due to displacement of the fluid through the lines. As the brake pads wear the fluid makes up the difference. The sensor in the reservoir is triggering the light as the fluid moves from one side of the reservoir to the other. The brake pads (front or rear) are getting close to replacement. If they still have some life and you're not ready to change them you can just top off the fluid in the reservoir to turn off the light. However, when you do go to replace them the reservoir will become overfull and the excess fluid will spill on the ground. It's not a bad thing, just something to be expected if you just top it off.
