What does VSC stand for when light comes on? - 2001 Lexus RX 300

That code relates to a crankshaft position sensor signal. It you have a check engine light come it disables the VSC and Trac system. Until you get that sensor fixed the VSC and the TRAC system will be inop. So whenever you have a check engine light come on that is what you will see. Even though you cancel the check engine light the fault still exists and the VSC/ TRAC light will come back on. That is a sure way to tell that something is wrong.

The check engine light is drivability which affects emission and to protect the catalytic,when this light comes on VSC is disabled.This helps protect the catalytic.

I believe VSC in the warning lights is Variable Speed Controller. It should be dealing with the traction control. If that is malfunctioning your traction control system isn't working properly. essentially what this does is automatically control how your drive train applies power to the drive wheels in order to maintain control of the vehicle on the different terrains it is driven.

The best advice I can give is go to google and type in vsc Toyota forum. They have had many problems with the VSC. If you change tires then you have to have the computer re calibrated. The forums will describe it and what it does, way better than I can.

I'm not sure about the Lexus, but Nissan and other vehicles with the VSC usually will be on until you can drive on a straight road for approximately 2-3 miles without stops and about the same speed during the reset process. The interstate or some type of hwy will reset this light once the vehicle has learned the Vehicle Stabilization Control in which is learned by the way you drive and enables the car to have stable control. Hope this helps out, if this doesn't work, I would take it in for more diagnostics.

VSC means Vehicle Stability Control.

It comes on when the sensor send a signal that the vehicle is not stable on the ground.....check the wheel balancing and alignment and the air pressure of your tires too.

It stands for Vehicle Stability Control When the VSC system takes control it activiates stability correction. The slip indication light flashes while the buzzer activates. The VSC is able to operate at all times except when the centre differential is locked. When the centre differential locks, the VSC-OFF light in the combination meter illuminates to inform the driver that the VSC function has been turned OFF. you need to have the computer scanned for codes and see what area is having problems. the vsc lights will come on when the check engine light is on.
