If you're having issues during hard acceleration and that's when the engine light starts to flash, especially in high mileage cars...it is more than likely a bad catalytic converter. The engine light will flash for misfires too but that is usually a consistent problem from start-up. A catalytic converter's internals break down over time. Poor gas quality accelerates this or high water content in the gas. Water is acatalytic converter's worse enemy.
Cutting the converter out is not an option on these GM motors as they have O2 sensor(s) on and\or around them...and you don't want to "confuse" the engine's computer (ECU).
They should cost around $250 to have replaced by a local muffler shop and they'll keep the old one as a trade in because they have valuable metals inside them. This helps offset the cost of the repair. The good news is that after it's replaced, your car's engine will be revamped with restored horsepower.

My buick regal 2003 wont excelerate it starts

It may be the throttle position sensor. You should have a check engine light on in your dash. You will need to have someone plug a OBD II reader in and retrieve the code.
You can spend a LOT of money just putting in one part after another.
Please let me know what you find.

03 buick regal automatic transmission. the transmission is not shifting normally. does not shift into higher gear unless you accelerate very slowly. it revs up to 4000 rpm then the engine bogs down and...

Since it is sitting , Let's try this. In the intake ducting , in one of the metal sections or in tthe air dilter box there is what is called a maf sensor. This sensor messes up numerous performanceaspects. It can be spotted by the wires cominiiiig out of the tube. This sensor measures the density and velocity of the aur entering the engine and communicates with rge computer to provide the right amount of fuel for correct air to fuel ratio for proper combustion. This sensor can be cleaned with CRC electrical spray cleaner.. Do Not rub or brush the sensor or use compressed air to dry it or it can be damaged. clean both sides with the spray only.Good Luck. Now, your trans may correct itselfonce the sensor has the engine running right. Make sure your air filter is clean and there is no loose dirt in the intake ducting.Check you trans fluid level Again, I hope this helps you..

You could possibly have a blown head gasket. Is there an awful amount of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe? If so, that's likely to be your problem.
