For the water pump leaking, get some engine coolant stop leak from any automotive store, it usually contains pump seal lubricant also. the power surges are a separate problem from your pump leak.

There is a vacuum leak and the air/ fuel mixture is running lean because of it. That will heat a motor Check all vacuum hoses and check the PCV valve is not gunked up from the grey soup from the water in oil problem and leaking air into the manifold when it should be sealed off.
More likely it's yr heating pipes let water escape so check these thoroughly. Could be head gasket leaking into engine so chk that immed for any sign of water on the oil stick. Otherwise flush the engine water thru for an oily blockage. Always use coolant. cheers
Sounds to me like a blown head gasket. Compression leaking over into the water jacket and or leaking from combustion pressure leaking over into the water jacket pushed coolant out the overflow. This would be the better of another possible problem, water leaking into the oil! Water neither cools or lubricates the bearings which unfortunately live a short life. Check your oil. If it looks like Chicken Soup you may need a short block. I hope it is only your head gasket.
You may have a cracked head, block or blown head gasket that is leaking combustion gas into the cooling system. If you dont have a combution leak detector kit you can take it to a trusted mechanic tell them the problems you've had and the parts you've replaced. Ask them to check for a combustion leak in the cooling system. A minor combustion leak in the cooling system can sometimes mimic the symptoms of overheating.
that did not sound like any fun. most likely your water pump has failed on you. you will want to replace both timing belt and rollers and tensioner. they most likely will have been soaked by coolant also the want to look at the coolant flange on the drivers side of the engine block. if it is leaking or not the burning smell is probably the oil leaking onto the exhuast manifold from a leaking v/c cover gasket.hope it helps good luck.
