How to replace a brake light switch on a 2000 toyota echo. after removing switch can car be driven with out it.

step 1
remove battery neg lug or BOOM
wrap the lug in a shop towel securely
not pull the alt
if not you blow up a 120+ or more fuse
and now the ALT is dead, even 10 new alts are now dead. see?
never skip step 1 in the service manual
or BOOM
fact #2 its not a tiny ATC fuse that blew out.
I found it at Mitchell-1
fuse 3 exploded (done wrong) so the harness dies not catch fire.
car fires are never fun/.

take off tire and brake drum you do not have to take off brake shoes remove the four bolts on the back of housing and tap the unit out good luck

I had a similiar problem with mine the hand brake was stuck on and wouldn't let the new drums go back on.

Usually the ck eng light comes on for Emmissions related problems such as sensors and possible engine missfire (runs rough) If the car runs ck the GAS CAP for proper closure it should click

take off the tire remove the brake drum let go the four bolts on the inside part behind backing plate should be able to tap the whole unit out without taking off the brake pads

you can see 2 bolts at the back of caliper look the same ,one on the up ,and one at down,so just remove the bolt and put back the piston then you can put new pad on
