Hi. - There is very little heat coming from the vents. If fan speed is on 1, it does come out warm, but 3 or 4 its almost cold... ALSO, if I shut off the fan for 5 mins and turn back on at full speed- it blows out warm for like 10 secs and then its almost cold again.
-I read that I should bleed the air out from a hose near the thermostat..
-BUT I also read there is a Water Valve near the Heater Core.. IS THERE a water valve actually there? And if so, How do I get to it to check it out?? IS there any other things I should check out also?? Thanks
- A BG Coolant flush has been done a year earlier.
-the car has regular heat control, just a knob to turn from hot to cold. -
-Everything works perfectly except heat.
I had the same problem with my 199 cougar 2.0 4 cyl.
The problem was air in the cooling system.
I had to bleed the air out of the system, and now the heat
works much better.
I put a flushing tee between the back of the thermostat and
the heater core, and made sure that water flowed out of there.
Then I disconnected the small hose from the top of the coolant
resevoir, and poured water into it using a funnel until the coolant
level started to rise in the coolant resevoir. Then started the car, left the radiator cap off, and let it come up to temperature (thermostat open)
then over a period of about 5 minutes, periodically "goosed" the engine to clear any remaining air bubbles.
The heat is MUCH better now.

it dont matter what engine we talk about, the closer to the top of the engine the the better,it might be the top hose etc,,,,.start the engine and let the air out of the system it will be very hot so watch outonce the air bubbles stop then lock the system/tighten the nut, etc.adrian,,,,

hey thanks for the info- I checked the heater core hoses and the coolant was flowing through it. I just brought it to the dealership and they put a new heater core in- they said it was corroded- now the heat is good..
