How do I fix and 97 GMC 1/2 ton with a 350 vortec. Runs great once running. Sat for 5 years. If sits more than 5 minutes wont start without shot of starer fluid

have you changed the fuel filter and emptied the gas tank and put fresh gas in? Stale gas will not start as well as fresh gas and there could be water from condensation in the tank.

I have a 97 gmc sierra truck and it will not start, I think it might be the fuel pump. Iff anyone could help would appreciate.

Before replacing the fuel pump check if it has fuel pressure. If it has low pressure replace the fuel filter first. If the fuel pump does have to be replaced the filter would need to be replaced anyway.

2001 gmc sierra 1500 injector fuses and relays

Do you hear the fuel pump running on the prime cycle (when you turn on the key) (runs for 3 seconds) or when you have oil pressure?Have someone listen back by the tank for the wrrrrr. If you do have to change the fuel pump, make your life easy and just tilt up (lift) the pickup box from the drivers side to access the fuel pump.Takes 20 minutes to change it that way.

1997 gmc sierra shuts off while driving

Had same problem with a Yukon. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump (Won't show codes.) When cold ran fine, heated up, no pressure. Would start after sitting for about 1/2 hour. When engine dies on you check for fuel pressure under the hood.
