Loss of power light came on the other day and now wont fire it will turn over though

If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, check fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. Go from there.
We can also check circuits for power windows.

Please define "fire power". Is this just the power from the battery swinging the engine, or did you check if there is a healthy spark on the plug wires? If an engine dies without warning, the chances are very good it is the crank angle sensor in which case there will not be any spark on the wires even though the starter will swing the engine quite lustily without starting.

Where I live there is a Schuck's auto parts...and they have a hand held diagnostic tester that plugs right in to your harness. This will tell you whats is wrong.It only takes about 2 min and they don't charge you.On my car it was the mass air flow censor.If you can't find a Auto parts store that does this...take it to a shop soon. I am currently working on the same car, the one im working on is a K though (wagon), but same engine. What I found the issue to be is a bad fuel line.

When your engine light flashes a you the computer is telling you that you have a hard, cosistant miss fire (one of the cylinders is not firing) you need to get the codes read to find out what cylinder it is then go from there.

The rod knocking is caused by loss of oil pressure. Did the oil light not come on? That light is red, red means stop. Do not start this engine again until the problem is corrected.

Have you checked the oil level?

Check your battery terminal connections.

I'm having same problem on my 2000 model rodeo 4wd 3.2L V6. Other day check engine light came on. I checked engine bay nothing abnormal, or power loss. Next day light was gone. 2 days later driving, a sudden loss of power and light came up. After idling for a couple of minutes, drove off with light still on but all power back. 1 hour later of faultless driving loss of power for a minute or so. Engine temp normal. Had break for 1/2 hour and set off for last hour of journey without fault except check engine light still on. Following dayon startup light went out???
