Using the wrench or needle-nose pliers, loosen and remove the original retaining nut on the base of the antenna mast.
Gain access to the underside of the area of the trunk where the antenna is located.
Remove the bracket or brace that is below the hole and holding the antenna in place.
Remove the mast.
Find
the motor that controls the antenna mast. Generally, power antennas
will have a constant 12-volt lead and a ground lead. The ground lead
will be grounded to the panel next to the motor.
Remove the ground lead from the panel.
Pull out the antenna coaxial cable.
Unplug the coaxial from the extension coaxial cable.
Remove the original antenna coaxial cable. Note the route the cable follows.
Install new Antenna
Inspect the fender area where the antenna mast will be mounted for rust.
Clean the area before installing the new antenna.
Plug
the new antenna coaxial cable to the extension coaxial cable.
Plug
the new antenna's coaxial cable into the radio's chassis antenna jack
if there is no extension coaxial cable. Tie or tape the string you put
on the extension cable to the new antenna coaxial cable. This assures
that the 2 cables stay together as you route them to the antenna mount
in the fender.
Connect the power lead of the antenna to the power antenna lead on the radio.
Connect the 12-volt constant lead to the antenna to a 12-volt source or to the ignition switch.
Direct
the new antenna cable via the same route followed by the original
antenna cable on up to the hole in the fender in which the mast will be
mounted.
Ground the ground lead from the motor to a clean metal surface on the metal panel near the mount.
Insert
the mast into the hole. Face the serrated side of the plastic cable on
the bottom of the mast toward the motor side. The plastic cable can be
inserted freely to about 12 inches and will stop.
Turn
on antenna switch to down position until the plastic cable goes down
and catches into the gear mechanism of the drum housing. If the plastic
cable does not gear into the mechanism, twist the cable slightly until
the cable contacts into the gear mechanism while the motor is in
operation.
Stop the motor after the cable goes into the housing 12 to 25 inches.
Secure the bracket or strap to the bottom of the antenna mast and to the metal fender.
Replace the retainer nut to the base of the antenna mast and secure tightly.
Replace the panel that covers the antenna mount area.

DTC B2470 04: Cellular Phone Antenna Circuit Malfunction Open Circuit
The cellular antenna is connected to the communication interface module (CIM) with a RG-58 coax cable. The CIM polls the data from the cellular antenna once every second.
Circuit/System Testing
Ignition OFF, disconnect the cellular antenna coax from the CIM module and the cellular antenna.
Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the antenna coax center terminal and ground.
? If greater than the specified range, replace the antenna coax.
Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the antenna coax outer shield and ground.
? If greater than the specified range, replace the antenna coax.
Test for infinite resistance between the antenna coax center terminal and ground.
? If less than the specified value, replace the antenna coax
Test for infinite resistance between the antenna coax outer shield and ground.
? If less than the specified value, replace the antenna coax
Test for less than 5 ohms at the cellular antenna coax center terminal from end to end.
? If greater than specified value, replace the cellular antenna coax cable.
Test for less than 5 ohms at the cellular antenna coax outer shield from end to end.
? If greater than specified value, replace the cellular antenna coax cable.
Test for infinite resistance between the antenna coax center terminal and the outer shield.
? If less than specified value, replace the cellular antenna coax cable.
If coax cable tests normal, replace the cellular antenna.
Clear the DTCs and operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC. Verify DTC B2470 does not set.
? If the DTC sets, replace the CIM.
If it's on rear, remove panel in trunk & spare tire, to get access, and remove all nuts/bolts, electrical connector & antennae cable, & reverse for re-install. Once your in there it will be fairly obvious.
Make sure the technician scans the module for codes before replacing. If the antenna is at fault, the module will set the specific code for the antenna.

its held in by the bracket on the botom of it and also the chrome nut arount the top of it... remove the nut from the top and the bolts from the base support bracket and then remove the antenna and power wires.. when installing replacement antenna secure the top nut first. then bolt base and reconnect antenna wire and power plug
If the antenna is making a noise (the motor running) like it is trying to go up, but it is not doing so there is a chance that your antenna gearing strip is broken! It cost about $23 to get a new part from a dealership, and takes about 2 min to fix. When you get a new antenna with gearing strip to replace the old one all you need to do is unscrew the cap around the antenna and then turn the radio on. this will cause the antenna to come out. you will need to do the revers to put the new one in.
However, this becomes a problem if the gearing strip is broken. if so you will have to take the motor out and get the remaining part out before inserting the new one. the motor is located under the wheelwell of the passager side tire in the front of the vehicle. pretty easy to do if you have any common sense, but will probably take you an hour to complete this part of the fix.
Now, if you are wanting to replace the entire antenna with a non-motorized antenna with one that come on an old vehicle this is totally doa ble, but will take much more time and more skills on how to wire different components together. by preforming this task you will have to run a new antenna line from the antenna to the back of the radio. If it sounds like i am talking a foreign language than just take it someone to get it done! or find that cute opposite *** who knows what they are doing and have them do it for you. But dont listen to them when they tell you sure they know what they are doing, if they say it will take no more than 15 min or a couple of hours because then, They Do Not know what they are doing!
There should be a nut at the base of the antenna or in the car right under the antenna. take that off. then there might be two ways to do it. 1. you might have to run new antenna wire to under the dash board. or the antenna will need the adapter right under where the antenna sits.
