I dont no what model good car you have but the problem you have if the starter just clicks and dosent turn over the engine its Either BATTERY is 50% nogood or the starter motor is poling (shorting inside) or rhe starter bendix isent throughing out or the solenoid is shorting inside OR the engine is siezed up,,,,, But i dont think its the engine so start off with
Turn on headlights ,then turn the key to start Does your lights go out or dim (if yes) jump start from another car ,, if it starts GOOD then battery isent any good,,.
If not and the starter still just clicks or clunks then the starter is faulty BUT before taking it off turn the engine over by hand just a little and try the key again, if no go then take the starter off and away for testing
Let me know how you get on have a goodday Ron

check the plug that connects to the fan motor for bad or corroded contacts. then you can run separate jumper wires from the battery to the rad cooling fan motor if the fan doesn`t run then replace the fan motor. if it runs then it could be the coolant fan relay, coolant fan sensor in the motor, PCM, or a wiring problem of some sort but fan motors are common.
If you mean it doesn't start whenever I start the engine, then that is OK because the fan does not engage until the engine gets to a certain temperature.
If you mean it never starts and you're overheating, then I would check the fuse for the fan or else the motor might be fried on the cooling fan and needs to be replaced.
is the car running hot? some cooling fans never come on going down the road because the air comjng through the front of the vehicle keeps the car cool enough that it doesn't need to come on. but if it is overheating then you may want to check the cooling fan relay.
When it doen'st start, you will need to check for spark, fuel. If it doesn't have one of these, you will need to start tapping the relay related to starter, and fuel pump. The best way to determine which ones they are is to get a manual, but another way is to place your hands on the relays that you think maybe related and have someone turn the key on. The correct relay will click. Now, you will need to see if the same relays are clicking during the no-start. If any of them fails to click, tap them with a screw driver. If it starts then, replace the relay. It maybe interfering with the radio since this is an electrical event.
the clicking noise is most likely coming from the solenoid on the starter motor, the solenoid is like a big switch with contacts inside of it,when you turn the key to start the engine these contacts come together to transfer the power to the starter motor,if the solenoid can't be taken apart & the contacts cleaned or replaced it will have to be replaced.......hope this helps....cheers
Check the electric cooling fan. There will be a sensor on the engine to tell it to turn on. The electric motor itself may be defective, and lastly, there will be a fuse to power the motor. Also, if the engine has been running hot, it may have damaged the thermostat. But from your description, that doesn't seem likely. Hope this helps.
if your talking about the heater fan that blows heat into the car then remove it and check for dirt or leaves stuck on or near fan. if there are no trash in the blower fan then replace it,most of the time the clicking is not the fan, if the fan is off and you hear clicking then its not the fan, its the blend door acuator and its stripped and you hear it jumping over the gears, if thats the case then replace the blend door actuator motor.hope this helps.
