2006 Saturn VUE - I get a high-piched whine when I accelerate over 20-25 mph. I call it my "space alien" because it almost sounds like George Jetson's car. The sounds stops immediately when I decelerate below 20 mph. But it's intermittant (doesn't happen consistently) which makes it hard to take to a shop to diagnose. Can't tell if it's coming from the undercarriage or right front wheel area. Any ideas?
What you do, is take it to a shop and you drive and have someone ride with you to diagnose the issue. You never leave a veh at a shop with out a road test and a mech or tech that has some interest in finding the problems. Also run it on the lift in the shop to see if it can be duplicated. Preferablely on rollers on the ground, such as a dyno machine,, so as not to harm the drive axles, if that applies to your veh.
Testimonial: "Thx! May do. Can't spend $$$ on "sometimes". Thot it might be a belt, but car revved in neutral--no noise. Got to be a moving part somewhere."
How did you fix the noise on the 2006 Saturn
Is it a Auto or a Manual box..
Is it in any gear like 1/2/or3
I would like to know before going in any deeper
Ron
Well still doesent give me much to go on but the problem seems that it comes at 20mph and goes when you back of the throttle and its not always there plus you have got AWD so going on what you told me It could be the R/H/CV JOINT or wheel bearings but on the other hand it could be in the Auto Box as they also come up with some quear noises or the only other thing is the torque converter but that noise does not go when you back off .
SO the best thing to do would be to call into a work shop and take a mechanic out for a ride and see if he can come up with any more thought on the matter IM very sorry i cart help you any more but you have stumped me on this one Ron

It's a Saturn AWD V6 - Automatic. Does that help?
