2000 corvette convertible top rear window came

2000 corvette convertible top glass rear window came loose from the fabric (seal is broken). Is this something that is a normal ''wear & tear'' situation and can this be re-sealed without having to put a new top on the car?

Did the glass end up breaking? If not then I recommend hiring an auto glass repair man to come and take a look. They will have the tools needed to put the glass back in.

This is a common problem with many cars. It is delamination. If the window is loose in spots, it can often be repaired with urethane adhesive like glass shops use for windshields. If the glass is more than 30% delaminated, chances of fixing it are slim. With the glass all the way out, you need a new top. Karl at topgunwon.com

Back window of VW Cabrio 2001 is broken/ Need replacement

Look for a junkyard around that sells the window or buy one online for dirt cheap and then put it in yourself. It is not that hard just time consuming.

Convertible rear window separated from fabric top

This problem is very common and is known as delamination.
Use Urethane adhesive to reglue the window.
This same adhesive is used to install windshields.
The hard part will be to hold the window in place till the Urethane cures.
Prepare for that in advance.

To replace weather seals and rear window.

I'm working on the rear window problem with my car -- the convertible top shop told me about options to replace the window (including the fabric, etc around it) or replacing the entire top (the window unit + outside fabric). I'm now looking into temporary fixes...

Meanwhile -- about the water under the seat -- my drain holes were plugged -- they unplugged them for me -- the water going through the window was carrying debris down and plugged them up -- so check that out so at least water won't sit there. YUCK! I'm tired of bailing.

I would like to hear if you found a solution.

Porsche boxster soft top

Use hot water on the fabric surrounding the glass,,this will help loosen the fabric for the install,,,then use a hot air dryer to dry the surrounding area to tighten up.

Convertible top

It worked. Still very stuck with no signs of coming loose and I did it about a month ago. Just dont use too much and apply it with a little paint brush like an artist would use. You can always add more, but if you use too much, it will look messy. I used a little much in two places and when it expanded, you could see the yellow foam it makes at the edge of the fabric. But I just shaved it off with a razor blade and it looks fine. After doing the outside, gluing the glass to the fabric, i also glued the headliner in place as well. I lowered the top a few inches to take the pressure off, and put just a little glue in the track around the inside of the window, then put the edge of the headliner in the track. Left it overnight and it has not come loose since. I think getting this headliner reattached is important cause the headliner actually pulls the glass against the fabric top, which takes pressure off of the glue holding the window in place. In retrospect, maybe if i had fixed the headliner earlier, the window might not have come unglued in the first place. Shame on VW for not dealing with this issue better. Replacing the entire top is ridiculous!

Rear window glass has loosened from the roof

well I went to Lowes and shopped for a construction adhesive. I picked PL brand Polyurethane Premium Construction Adhesive because it is (so they say) 3 times stronger than ordinary adhesives.
It is also water and weather proof
Bonds to wood, metal, stone, concrete, masonry, bricks, vinyl, plastics
It came in a tube (you know.. chaulking gun style)

How could it NOT hold glass to fabric??? Thats what I said to myself.. well when we have nothing to lose, we'll try anything.

I put a good bead about 3/8 of an inch in between the glass and fabric, waited 7 days and then razored the excess off the glass. Applied black permanent marker and I'm done. So, it's been about 2 weeks and it's holding well so far.
I'm a betting man, but I won't bet this is going to hold... would you?
