98 jeep cherokee sport flashing engine light

The check engine light is because all check engine light codes are caused by components that affect emissions. It's not actually an engine problem, it's a problem with either your O2 sensor, MAF sensor, fuel/air ratio, pyrometer, or exhaust.

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. The check engine light came on a little bit ago, and ever since then it's had problems shifting out of first gear. I'll be running 4000 rpm for miles before it...

it is most likley the throttle position sensor"mine wouldn't shift into 5th gear because of it" if it bad or worn out it not sending the correct signal to the computer telling the transmission to shift out. before you get lied to by the auto parts stores diagnostics.turn the ignition on with out cranking the vehicle turn it on off on off and on if the check engine light starts flashing count the flashes .say it flashes two times then pauses then flashes three more times then stops that would be fault code 23 you can look it up on the internet or buy a haynes repair manual in your case if it flashes 2 times then pauses then flashes 4 more times it is the throttle position sensor

I have a Jeep 2006 Grand Cherokee. The Perform

There is no way for you or me to tell. In order to determine what service it needs you should go to the dealer and they will perform a diagnostics test. I think it is around $95. It could be something simple as a fuse or reset needed. It could possibly be under warranty and not cost you anything but the $95.
I hope this helps

I have a 1988 jeep cherokee, if your are standing in front of the vehicle, on the left fhand side, there is a relay center. well right beside that realy center is two little white plastic boxes with yellow...

Diagnostic Connector To read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's), the test connector for the electronic engine control system must be used. The test connector is more commonly referred to as the Data Link Connector (DLC). On all Jeep models through 1990, the DLC is a 6-pin and a 15-pin connector located under the hood on the right side of the engine compartment. On 1991–93 models, the DLC is located under the hood on the left side of the engine compartment near the powertrain control module. On 1994–98 vehicles, the DLC is located in the passenger compartment, under the driver side dashboard.

Engine code 95 jeep grand cherokee lerado

12 is a battery disconnect within the last 50 start cycles and 55 means the end of the diagnostic cycle.  Basically the computer found nothing wrong. The 12 code may seem incorrect if you haven't disconnected the battery recently, but from my experience the 12 code shows up almost all the time regardless.
