I have 1995 Nissan Maxima. On the crank pulley

I have 1995 Nissan Maxima. On the crank pulley there's 2 marks close together and one mark not far from it. Which mark is top dead center?
This is my third time taking it down. It keeps on skipping. The first time 2 cylinders were skipping (#2 and #3). I took it back down. Then the second time one cylinder (#5) is skipping. Any suggestions?

V6 engines (VG30) renowned for breaking exhaust manifold studs. As to the pulley marks, looking at the engine from the pulley side, as the pulley rotates clockwise, the first mark up is TDC, the second is the timing mark for when the engine is running and you are using a strobe light.

SOURCE: Can't fine an arrow to line up timing marks.

Hi. The older style engines had a metal arrow on the front timing cover. The newer ones may have a small raised area on the timing cover. It might be best to spray the area down with a can of brake kleen and then wipe the area down with a rag.

If your belt came with marks, then they should match the marks that are on the sprockets and block, if not, you must have the cam marks align with those on the engine. If you're in doubt about the exact spot, lay a tooth pick across the sprockets so that you can check alignment to the block.

Help me with a timing mark diagram for nissan np200 k7m engine

the best way is as you have done so far ie timing marks on the tdc gap in the bell housing ,
then from the pulley end if you have a staight line from the crank pullley center all the way through the cam pulley you should see a small timing mark in the side of the cam pulley(small dent/dot) this should be approx 5 degrees to the right of center , you should also have timing marks on the belt which help as well ,

crank mark at 6 o clock : cam pulley mark at 12 o clock + 5 degrees right approx in conjunction with belt marks

the timing marks on the cam shaft casing (if they are there )look like two protruding pieces of oblong moulded alloy approx 12mm long by 4mm wide

i would recommend that if you proceed from here to do it then when you have assembled it !!!! turn the engine at least twice by hand to check for collision!!!! , take plugs out first tho

i have some spec sheets somewhere if you need them ,but they are not very clear but give a very good indication to where the pulleys should be aligned ,

Does the 2005 Nissan Xtrail 2.2 diesel have TDC timing mark on the crank pulley

All crankshaft pulleys have a timing mark. However, the actual marks can be different between manufacturers. Some have a notch cut on the rim of the pulley others have an arrow or a Dot stamped or moulded on the face of the pulley.
If your replacing a belt, line up the Cam marks and carefully examine the Crank pulley. You should be able to find the marks for the pulley and it's matching mark on the engine block. Some timing chains use marks on the pulley and marked links on the actual chain. I think yours might be a plain round dot or dimple on the raised face nearest the chain teeth.
*Note* The matching crank marks might not be at TDC on the actual pulley.
Some pulleys are stamped with extra marks to help set the advance and retard on the engine. Give the face of the pulley a good clean with a wire brush as sometimes dirt and surface rust can hide the mark.

Can some one show me timeing mark on 1997 nissan maxima please

wow a Nissan Camry.
what engine, ??????????
what are you doing, we dont know. so..
cam marks? chain marks?
spark timing?

in 1997, most cars have 6 or more marks.

Nissan V6? is it (guessing i am)
if doing major cam work , you will need far more that just mark data.

if doing serious work, i recommend the below
  1. a real FSM, from NISSAN if Nissan.
  2. alldata.com
warning:1
all nissan engines are All Interference
so doing cam work or finding engine dead,
do a leak down test by hand before cranking engine
or bend the valves.
after replacing chain, do a cyl. leak down test (a tool)
and if it fails, the valves were bent, do not crank engine
or the damage WILL cascade $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

My nissan maxima will not start

Check timing belt. Shoot a timing light down at your crank. If the timing mark jumps around bad, your belt has slipped.

Timming

Dear invisible148: I don't know which timing marks it is you are looking for, so I will supply you with several.
The timing marks on the crankshaft pulley which the belt ride on, are "NOTCHES" which have been made on to the top edge of the pulley inside shiv. They are in 5 degree increments. The timing cover has a fixed metal tab shaped like a pointer which sits relatively close to the top of the pulley.
The timing marks for the cam gears and the crank gear are small dots which were stamped on the very edge of the cam gears close to where the belt teeth mesh with the gear. The crank gear has a dot stamped on it, close to the edge of one of the teeth where it too meshes with the timing belt.
I hope I have answered your question.
