My daytime running lights work but I have no high or low beam when I turn the dial control lever to on

Check your fuses. Those lights run through separate fuses. These fuses are in the fuse box in the engine bay.
As I don't know what vehicle you have the attached photo is Only a guide to the symbols you are looking for.

Need a fusebox diagram for a peugeot expert 2008 model

Sorry I can't provide the diagram you seek.

Aftermarket repair manuals usually include a generic diagram but there are often regional variations to this so the only reliable source is the vehicle's own handbook.

Sometimes there is a diagram on the inside of the fusebox cover with universal symbols acting as a guide to the function of each fuse and relay.

I have an S reg ford fiesta zetec, with no rear lights, not sure which fuse it is, as it doesn't say in the owners guide.

I don't know which fuse but the fuseboxes are usually marked with symbols. HOWEVER it is unlikely to be the fuse and much more likely to be the bulbs. Have you tried a new bulb in one position just to prove the point?
