Is it leaking water or Anti Freeze?
If it's Anti Freeze you can pull down the rug or floor mat to check, you should also smell the Anti Freeze. This means your heater core is leaking & has to be replaced, if it's not leaking bad you can try a sealer called Aluma seal (my spelling could be wrong),looks about the size of a roll of dimes, most auto stores have it.
If it's water, my guess is the AC condensation hose is blocked. Does it leak only when the AC is on? this hose runs outside, usually on the
passenger side behind the front wheel, when the AC is on & condensation builds up, you will see water coming out on the ground, this is normal, but if that hose is pinched or blocked the water could end up running onto your floor. Hope this helps.
Are you able to see if it is the heater core? Located in dash on passenger side. Can often see them from bottom of the dash if you stick your head down by the floor boards.
Had same recent problem. Leaking anti-freeze near passenger-side under engine.
Inspect all hose connections and area around water pump and did not find source of leak.
Took car to dealer and they checked and told me it was leaking from timing cover gasket and head gasket. I found the head gasket hard to believe so I went to a trusted mechanic and he did a dye test that found the leak was in fact the timing cover gasket.
Sounds like a possible heater core failure(hole in it) the smell indicates to me the coolant(anti-freeze) is leaking into the passenger compartment. Check the carpet in front of the front passenger seat for moisture, this would confirm heater core leak. Good luck !
Sound like the tube that connects your heater core to the water supply from radiator. On Fords these tube are metal and very oftern rust out and need to be replaced. This is located behind and to the right (passenger) side of the engine.
pull off the tranny inspectiont cover and see if its wet in there, if it is its prob the front tranny pump seal if not and it is anti freeze youve go a hose leaking or intake manifold gasket leaking or a head gasket leak!!! either way the 4 wheel drive would have nothing too do with any of the leaks !!!!
If you notice a 'sweet' smell, or windows tend to fog up, it's your cars heater core leaking. The heater core is located under the dash, passenger side, it's like a mini radiator. The cars cooling system directs hot coolant to it so you can have heat. To change it is an involved procedure. If there is no evidence of the anti-freeze smell or windows fogging up, and u have been using your air conditioner, it would be a blockage in the drain tube from the a/c. The end of the tube is located under the car on the passenger side , behind the front wheel. The blockage needs to be removed, and will solve the problem. Let me know what u find Curt
I had the same problem. Reservoir would drain for no reason and I later found that the water was soaking the passenger side carpet and filling the wire channel under the doors. Tracked the problem to a barbed fitting behind the passenger side kick panel, just below the dash. The fitting connects the tubing coming through the firewall from the reservoir to the rear wiper/washer. The hose had come loose from the fitting (possibly due to freezing). I re-installed the tubing onto the the fitting and it has been fine ever since.
Sounds like they installed the pump incorrectly. Gasket misalignment? Started right after the waterpump was installed? Hose clamp not quite tight enough? Just a thought. The passenger front wheel area is just the right area for it to be the pump. I hope this was able to help you. If you still need me, I'll be here. Best wishes to you.
