The ignition key may be defective or in need of a battery to generate the code needed to disarm the immobilizer. Hope this helps!

The car will not start as it seems immobiliser is a problem

could be your crank sensor has failed.

usually it is behind or near the main crank pulley, not sure on your car's exact location.

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to reset the ecu and see if it restarts.

I have a peugeot 406 hdi executive with no handbook. The car wont start,I think i have immobiliser problem and i need to enter code into keypad.Where is the keypad located?

this car has no key pad as to new, after 1999 all pads are gone and its done through your key, is it cranking over ok, i suspect a faulty lift pump, you have to listen for a wine when you turn the key on, its the lift pump under rear seat.

406 Peugeot fuel pump - Diesel

yes the control pad and the engine management are connected via a unit called the BSI this very expensive to replace around the $1500 AU price so you don't want to replace it if you dont have to the 406 had problems with immobilisers ecu which is able to be unpluged, most of the time this will solve the problem.
if need be tow the car to the dealer and ask them to unplug the imobiliser
