2004 1.8tdci 115bhp ford focus lx- cambelt change?

To be 100% certain the cambelt is broken the cam cover needs to be removed take out the top 4 M6 bolts this will let you pull back the cover to check the belt if it's broken cylinder head off to check valves and pistons for damage good luck

if it says split port 2.0 on the top of the engine, it is a single cam. anything else like zetec or duratec is a double.

there is not marks.you must have special tools to change the cambelt and retiming the engine.the camgears are conejointed in camshafts dont try anything!a haynes manual can help you but much better an experianced engineer must do this!the zetec engines are sophisticated with variable timing and complicated working procedure.

i an presuming it is a belt driven engine like my 1.6 uk focus, i had the same fault as mine and after extensive investigation i found the cam belt tensioner to be weak and tapping causing cambelt to wear

is that 49,000 ks, you should be good for another thirty or so, do please purchase a manual for this, it requires the front of the engine to be dissaembled, line up the timing marks on #i cyl before dissassembly, then loosten the tensioner, remove belt, repalce anything that seems questionable at this time, there is too much involved to just say do it, i trust that you can , if you have problms i am always on line

what do you mean the gears no keyway ,tapered interference fit

assuming that you are asking about the timing belt?. if you are not mechcanically inclined, you might not want to tackle this one yourself. if you don't do exactly what needs to be done you will be doing damage and costing yourself a whole lot more than you would have "if" it would have been done by a professional.
