I have an 02 Olds Alero and for some reason when the weather is cold outside my power windows don't work, the heat wont come on,the speedo, gas, and all other gauges will stay at 0. I really have no idea what's causing the problem.
If anybody could help that would be great.
That could be a tough problem to track down if you have no automotive electrical trouble shooting skills . Viewing wiring diagams for one of the affected systems , an testing that systems electrical circuit with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter when the the problem is there , would probably locate problem for all of the affected systems . They must have something in common , power supply , ground , share a connector in a wiring harness etc....
Learning how to trouble shoot electrical problems is a must !

Click the search botton ,then the blue link. Check where it gets it's power (fuse) at the top of the diagram ,then check ground location (bottom of the diagram ) For the instrument cluster ,it's ground is G 202 .Then check out HVAC -heat , this also uses G202 . Watch the videos an buy a DVOM an test the circuits , this is how to find your problem .

The A/C system is normally a sealed system. This means the R134a only emptied if there was a leak. This system holds approx 24 oz of R134a (check label under the hood or near evaporator) so one can may not activate the compressor due to low pressure in the system.
Before adding anymore, check all tubing, the condensor and near the compressor for signs (oil leaking, hissing) of the leak. Good Luck

Hi! The transmission on this model does not have a dipstick. Instead it uses a transmission fluid oil check plug. It is accessed under vehicle. To check fluid level you must remove oil check plug. if fluid is coming out transmission is full. If it requires some fluid you can get a gear oil bottle and a short piece of hose to put on end of nipple and squeeze dextron 3 transmission fluid in until it runs out of plug hole. Then re-install plug and snug it up. **Note: Car must be on level surface with engine off when checking. Use suitable jack stands in front and rear to make vehicle as level as possible.Always wear safety goggles when working under vehicle. I have included a picture of fill plug location for you.
