On this car that stands for the varible valve timming unit solenoid has
failed now it can be a few things the timming is off or the varible
timming hub is bad this is ussally do to sludge, but 90% of the time it
is the varible valve timming unit. This is located directlly behind the
timming belt. Take off the top cover overtop the engine that has the
torx t30 bolts holding it on check the wiring and then replace the
variable timming solendiod if the wires are ok.
Hope this helps (remember to rating this free answer).
you will need to open the engine up if you can not turn the cam fully. something has been bent or broken or else it will turn. by breaking your timing belt was it shredded? if so you do have internal damage
could be the valves try adjusting them and set the timing by crossing over the ignition terminals behind the battry there is a little black box with atop that comes of look in the book for the actual termilal numbers is about 4 of them. hope this helps
First you will need a service manual or information for this vehicle for the valve lash setting. The procedure is usually removing the valve cover( You will need a new valve cover gasket) putting the # 1 cylinder on top dead center and using wrench, screw driver or allen key,and a feeler gauge. You will need to follow the firing order when adjusting the valves. You will need a timing light to set the timing and also the timing spec. This usually involves warming engine to normal operating temp. clean harmonic balancer and mark the timing mark with some white paint loosen the the distributor hold down bolt hook up timing light and turn distributor until the timing mark on the balancer lines up with the timing mark on the timing cover then tighten the holding bolt back down. Also the timing advance has to be disabled when setting the timing and enabled when you are done. The valves should be set first then set the timing. A Haynes manual available at your local auto parts store should contain pictures and information to help you do this.
cam timming is possibly out due to gear reduction set up in heads
suggest remove rocker covers and make sure cam lobes are in this possition as well as all other timming marks luckily these engines (V6) are free wheeling (wont bend valves) set up like pic below
i'am a little confused here. are you saying it jumped time and you took it apart and put new timmimg gear and chain in? and don't know if you got marks lined up right, between cam gear and crank gear?
