GMC Yukon cranks over but will not start. It did act up for awhile, sometimes suddenly wanting to shut down, then it would run fine for awhile. Now this morning it simply will not start.

check to be sure you have fire to the plugs and also check to be sure you have fuel to the engine. Not sure what year you are working on but if you have fire and fuel to the injectors or tbi unit then check to be sure cat converter or muffler is not plugged putting back pressure on engine. If you put fuel in the tbi unit and it starts better go to the fuel pump.

Starting problem

Crank Sensor is known to go bad on the 5.9. Very common AND can act up when engine is warm.

If it were me, I would check the wires coming & going to & from engine. Maybe something is crossed. That's what it sounds like, anyways.

Cut the negative battery cables open & positve one's too.If they're green or sorta green they're shot. You'ld be amazed at what good cables can do.

92 aerostar hard start

Hi, without testing the car, and knowing miealge on car, ill guess coil is faulty or you can go to any large parts store the new franchise type. They will come out and put a tester on usually free and just might save you a lot of money, before a mechanic tells you to rebuild the motor for 3,000. Good luck to you! Frankie!

May have a fuel pump going bad or a fuel filter clogged. When the fuel pumps go bad they tend to not hold fuel in the line and it leaks back to the tank. That could be causing your hard start sometimes and not others.

May have a problem with bleed down in fuel pump over time. If you turn key to run position not to cranking position, wait 30 seconds try again then crank may give system enough prime to start.
