I have recently purchased a Audi A6 1.8t petrol auto 2003 the problem i can see with it is the rev counter moves erraticly when you turn on the fan/use the electrics or just turn the steering while stationary. also has a knocking sound when turning right. the car is 1 day old from a dealer with warranty. gave asking price on the deal that he serviced the car from audi and changed all the necessary and gave it in good working order.

I have fitted a petrol engine to my Mitsubishi colt which was previously a diesel 4m40 now I need to connect my rev counter so where is the wire situated on the diesel engine, or how can I do this

I am not familiar with this model but petrol engines usually use a signal from the ignition system for the rev counter and diesels need a special sensor. However the rev counter is almost certainly unsuitable because petrol engines tend to rev much higher than diesels.

Have an issue with 2010 Audi A4 (170) where the engine revs are fluctuating when it is idling. No issues noted while driving with engine over 1400 Rpm. any ideas ?

You can take it to most auto parts stores such as O'Reilly's or AutoZone and they will scan for diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) that may be set in the computer.

Speedo needle doesn't move, petrol gauge moves up and down, low fuel light comes on and off, rev needle and temp work. Rear fog lights light comes on dash when evan side lights switched on

Probably a break inside wiring loom of one/more of the three wires that eventually connect to the speed sensor on top of gearbox. The break I fixed in my 2003 Leon 1.6SX was in the loom under battery tray. My symptoms were no speedo working, and erratic fuel guage (particulary when under 1/2 full). I repaired one broken wire.

Audi a3 1600 1999 car cuts out when cold after taking foot off the throttle but once warm normally ok but this doent happen all the time. Erratic rev counter when problem about to occur

You must check up all spark plugs, eventually change spark plug set (4 pieces), and fuel filter placed on bottom right side near reservoir. Also you must clean inside throttle valve control unit, see picture below:
