Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Alero
This is a very common problem with these cars. It is the lower intake manifold which leaks coolant. The repair is very expensive, but with some simple maintenance you can run with the problem for a very long time. I have a 2000 alero with the same problem, I change the coolant about every year (maybe a little longer). Every time I do a coolant flush I add bars stop leak and run the car for about an hour. If you do the following you should be fine, I have over 120k miles since I found out about the problem (180k total).
- frequently change the oil, as coolant can get into the oil and mix (i do mine every 3-4k miles which is every other month for me)
- change the coolant fairly regularly
- add stop leak only once, when you change the coolant

The intake sets up on the motor follow your air cleaner and you will see were the carburator is and that piece is bolted tothe engine and water frls threw the intike thre the head and down into the engine and threw the water ports to cool it down.
