I have high speed blower but no medium or low

My heater blower motor don't work in low or medium speed but does in high speed. Is it a switch problem?

It's likely a relay. I've often seen where the lower settings are ran through one relay and the higher setting ran through another because of the difference in amperage. I'd start there, the relays are often pretty cheap and a lot easier to replace than tearing the dash apart to change the switch.

SOURCE: blower works. However, only at one speed: LOW. no matter if set at low, medium, or high.

After two summers of sweating under the sun, it's fixed!!! There were two wires which looked like ground wires right above the glove box. One of the two wires was almost totally severed due to an overstuffed glove box. I guess every time I open and close the glove box, paperwork in the glove box push the wire up and down. It's like bending the wire back and fourth. Over time the 2-3 mm thick wires slowly sever. Upon inspection, my wires only had 3 strands holding it together which explains the fan staying on the low position due to slow ground. I re-attached the wires and soldered them back into place. Now my AC works like new - thanks to Mathew the Mechanic.. Thank you for asking. I really hope this posting helps someone with the same unique problem.

This vehicle doesn't have a blower motor resistor ! It has a blower motor control module , if you have automatic climate control !
If manual climate control , then there is a blower motor resistor assembly !
Blower Motor Control Processor The blower motor control processor controls the speed of the blower motor by increasing or decreasing the voltage drop on the ground side of the blower motor. The HVAC control module provides a low side pulse width modulated signal to the blower motor control processor over the blower motor speed control circuit. As the requested blower speed increases, the HVAC control module increases the amount of time that the speed signal is modulated to ground. As the requested blower speed decreases, the HVAC control module decreases the amount of time that the signal is modulated to ground.
Air Speed - Front Control
The blower motor forces outside air into the vehicle's interior. The vehicle operator determines the blower motor's speed when the driver places the blower switch in one of 5 blower speeds. The blower motor will always operate in any switch position other than OFF, as long as the ignition switch is in the RUN position. The blower motor and mode switches are located within the HVAC control module. The blower motor OFF input is connected in series with the HVAC control module by the off blower motor control circuit.
Depending upon the selected speed, power is provided to the blower motor from either the ignition 3 voltage or battery positive voltage circuits from the fuse block. The battery positive voltage circuit only provides power when the High blower switch position is selected. Power and ground are provided to the HVAC control module by the ignition 3 voltage and the ground circuits.
Low Blower Speed When the Low 1 blower speed is selected, the HVAC control module applies voltage to the blower motor resistor assembly through the low blower motor control circuit. Voltage is divided between 4 series resistors, a blower relay, and the blower motor to achieve the desired blower speed. The blower motor is grounded through the ground circuit.
Medium Blower Speeds When the Medium 1 blower speed is selected, the HVAC control module applies voltage to the blower motor resistor assembly through the medium 1 blower motor control circuit. Voltage is divided between 3 series resistors, a blower relay, and the blower motor to achieve the desired blower speed. The blower motor is grounded through the ground circuit.
When the Medium 2 blower speed is selected, the HVAC control module applies voltage to the blower motor resistor assembly through the medium 2 blower motor control circuit. Voltage is divided between 2 series resistors, a blower relay, and the blower motor to achieve the desired blower speed. The blower motor is grounded through the ground circuit.
When the Medium 3 blower speed is selected, the HVAC control module applies voltage to the blower motor resistor assembly through the medium 3 blower motor control circuit. Voltage is divided between a series resistor, a blower relay, and the blower motor to achieve the desired blower speed. The blower motor is grounded through the ground circuit.
High Blower Speed When the High blower speed is selected, the HVAC control module applies voltage to the blower motor resistor assembly through the high blower motor control circuit. The voltage energizes the blower relay, causing the blower motor to be connected directly to the battery positive voltage circuit. The blower motor and blower motor relay are grounded through the ground circuit.

1992 chevy C1500: Heat works on low speed, no medium, and high only works intermittantly.

On any other vehicle it sounds like the blower fan switch.
The fan switch provides power or ground to the resistor and there would be a high speed blower relay to bypass the resistor.
But in your case the fan switch is part of the controller.
I don't have a diagram for a 92 but the 94 model shows relays for low medium and high speeds. Each relay gets power from a fuseable link. The high relay gets power thru the low relay if the low relay is not engaged.
If you have the model with 3 relays you may need to check them.

Its faulty blower motor resistor. The low and medium speed on blower motor is controlled by resistor and its actual speed is high. So because resistor is not working, blower motors actual speed which is high is working.


It can be faulty blower motor or faulty blower motor resistor. Get the blower motor inspected. If it's faulty it has to be replaced.

WHERE DO I FIND MY RESISTERS FOR MY HEATER BLOWER SO I CAN REPLACE THEM

Under dash panel,or behind glove box on most of vehicles.

I have a 1999 ford v-10 the a/c blower motor only works on high speed is the low and medium speeds do not work is the switch good

The most common cause for this problem is the Blower Motor Resistor, you will find this in the heater housing next to the blower motor. They are easy to replace [ 2 screws ] and are available at most autoparts stores or a Ford Dealer.

My fan for the Ac and heater will not work. iam trying to replace the blower resister

the blower resistor is in the plenum... above the heater core.
If the blower motor does not work at all ... you may have a bad climate control switch.... or blown fuse even... as the resistor is a two stage coil... Low speed and medium speed... no resistor on High and would normally not go at the same time....

Heater fan only works on "high speed"

All cars are designed with a blower fan motor that pushes air through the ventilation system. This air is processed by a series of vents to direct the air to various positions. Example: heater, air conditioner and defrost modes. Most blower motors are power by a basic electrical circuit that utilizes a multi resistor or a solid-state resistor to control different fan speed modes (low, medium low, medium and high). If the resistor malfunctions it may lose one or more of the lower fan speed settings.

Why does blower fan speed switch lock-out off and low speed positions on 1998 chevy silverado? It stopped working altogether then I replaced a 10 amp fuse and now only medium high and high will work but,...

Sounds like you may have a bad blower motor resistor.  When they go bad, they usually wipe out all speeds except high.  But could knock out just one or two of the speeds.  It should be located near the blower motor.
